interior of a one-room apartment classic style

Infused with the classic melodies of Bach and artfully accentuated by summery colors and luxury details, these apartments aren't just photogenic—they look amazing in real life, too.

You may be surprised, but designer Serge Makhov implemented this classic apartment renovation on an incredibly small area - only 46.5 m². He was not afraid of deep rich shades, modern gloss and dark natural marble. On the way to his goal - creating an exclusive studio apartment for his client - he bypassed many traditional rules, but at the same time always adhered to the concept of a capsule European interior in the style of the center of Vienna or Paris.

What stands out in this interior is the desire for accent color, prominent decoration and gold accents, which are partly taken from the Art Deco style. The apartment is located in the residential complex “Na Melnikova” and was originally an open-plan project, from which the designer created a studio space with a kitchen-living room and a separate bedroom in a glass box. The project photographer was Sergei Krasyuk.

The project itself was created for a successful business woman who appreciates everything beautiful in life. The client owns her own aesthetic cosmetology clinic, loves art, everything French and most of the time she works in completely white monochrome interiors. That’s why the kitchen was chosen green, the dining room – wine and chocolate, the bedroom – spectacular turquoise, and the bathroom – luxurious red and gold! As the designer says, the owner herself inspired him to combine green and red in the kitchen interior - she skillfully combines these shades in her own wardrobe. And the remaining tones were taken based on bright contrast and design zoning, inspired by modern art and eclectic style.

Exclusive kitchen according to the designer's sketches, the apron is made of natural Rosso Levanto marble, household appliances from Graude, floristry by AhFlowers

An interesting addition to the classic ambiance of this interior is a glass box for the bedroom, which looks extremely minimalist. This approach to zoning justifies itself in any small apartment. But when we are talking about a partition right next to the window, which creates a unique perspective, then the effect of such a solution is doubled in the direction of greater aesthetics.

The glass is complemented by curtains, which, together with sound insulation made of high-quality glass, will, if necessary, become a replacement for a real partition. The steel and gold elements for the glass door (handle, hinges) are a beautiful detail. In general, this modern element goes well with more refined French details, but the classics ruled the roost in the interior of the apartment. The glass box has an important detail: a corner seamless module near the dining room. It is this part that creates the feeling of a box, rather than a simple solid partition with a door. Corner seamless modules always look like architectural structural elements, which visually emphasizes the complexity of the project.

The successful layout of the apartment was chosen taking into account the small free space. The owner of the apartment works a lot, mostly spends only evenings and weekends in the apartment. But she definitely wanted to have a separate bedroom, so that when receiving guests she could separate the private area from the public one. We are sure that this atmospheric interior will delight every lover of European aesthetics and spectacular design of small spaces. But the planning solution itself is very universal and is suitable for any style of interior design.

Interior of a one-room apartment in a classic style - 5 simple tips

Creating a cozy and functional space in a one-room apartment is not an easy task.
In a small area you need to place a living room, a bedroom, and sometimes an office, but at the same time the interior should remain stylish and comfortable. When thinking through the design of a one-room apartment, it is best to pay attention to the classics. This style is distinguished by practicality, elegance and solidity. Classics favorably emphasize the respectability of the apartment owners and never go out of fashion.

Classic renovation of a one-room apartment - style features

The classic style is based on three basic principles - quality, elegance, good taste. In a classic interior, expensive natural materials are usually used (wood, stone, leather, high-quality textiles), which immediately transform the space, adding a feeling of luxury and stability. A classic interior is characterized by a dull color scheme of natural shades.

Another sign of classics is symmetry. Columns are often present in the interior, and decorative elements and pieces of furniture are arranged in pairs, creating a feeling of ideal order in the apartment.

Furniture should be comfortable, good quality, made of dark wood or painted white. Cabinets, tables and shelves can be decorated with elegant carvings. Preference is given to sofas and armchairs upholstered in leather or high-quality textiles; upholstered furniture with a voluminous carriage frame is very popular.

A fireplace is another attribute of a classic interior. Of course, in a modern apartment there are not many opportunities for arranging a real fireplace with wood, but you can install a small electric fireplace or create a false fireplace, which, although it does not heat, creates an atmosphere of comfort and warmth.

The interior of this classic style apartment is designed in the best traditions of English estates. In the hall, decorated with special chic, there was a place for columns. Between the cozy living room with blue furniture and the neat kitchen there is a dining room with gray chairs.

Flirty vintage

The lush decoration of the bedroom is impressive with a multi-level ceiling. The wide cornice creates the illusion of palace vaults. The sconces are made in the form of floor lamps, and the table lamps resemble antique candlesticks.

Neon magic

The bathroom turned out to be more modern compared to the rest of the apartment. Neon blue lighting placed under the bathtub and vanity cabinet creates an atmosphere of magic and makes the floor tile pattern even more mesmerizing. The column cavities have been turned into racks for small items. A large beveled mirror references the Art Deco style.

A classic interior is always a fairy tale that has become reality. If you want to create your own magical world, full of historical references and memories of the best family moments, the designers will be happy to help you with this.

Dickens office

The cabinet, designed in chocolate tones, serves as a pure example of English classics. Chesterfield furniture, wooden panels, caissons, a bookcase - and here in front of us is a room from Dickens’s novels.

Tip 4. Install lamps at different levels.

Lighting plays an important role in a classic interior. In a one-room apartment, lamps not only play a practical and decorative role, but also help in zoning the space. You can install spotlights in the kitchen area, install an elegant chandelier with pendants in the central part of the room, and place a cozy floor lamp in the recreation area. Light sources located at different levels make it easy to adjust the lighting from brightly solemn to subdued romantic.

Bedroom with a turquoise bed in a glass box

Classic apartment design in the photo: bedroom in Art Deco style. Glass partitions made to order

The bedroom forms a focal point in the interior, as does the kitchen unit. It is this that the person who enters pays attention to first, until he notices the jade kitchen on the left.

Flooded with sunlight, emphasized by the gloss of the glass and the fashionable shade of turquoise of the bed, it seems like an expositional art object for those who come to this apartment for the first time. In everyday life, this area turns out to be both spacious and cozy if you use curtains. Adjustable privacy ends up being a very important part of any small-sized interior. Separately, it is worth mentioning the turquoise shade of the velor of the headboard, which shimmers from dark to light, creating an ombre effect from any point, and especially in motion. The bed linen was also chosen by the designer. And the spectacular Art Deco chandelier looks simply magnificent in gold and crystal! Another beautiful lamp is a candelabra on the cabinet opposite the bed, which seems to emphasize the European roots of this interior.

The bedside table in the bedroom interior is made to order according to the designer’s sketches, the bed is upholstered in velor, curtains are made of fine-pile smooth artificial fabric

View of the bedroom by the window from the hallway: glass box with a corner module from the kitchen on the left

Bright Cameroonian hats above the headboard are the squeak of the 2022 season in the decor of bedrooms and children's rooms. They are both a color and an ethnic accent. In this case, the designer opted for azure blue and wine red to create a feeling of eclecticism and unrestrainedness against the relatively calm classic background of wall and floor decoration.

Custom-made bedside tables also look interesting: they have light cream facades, but the tabletop and side walls are blue, which is not noticeable at first glance. A bedside lamp made of gray glass also fits perfectly into this interior, full of interesting decorative solutions. It is worth noting that the built-in lighting on the ceiling, the chandelier and the lamp are not the only sources of light. Integrated spotlights are important (and at the same time invisible) in a classic interior, not just in a modern one.

Tip 5. Decorate your interior with stylish accessories.

An interior in a classic style looks complete when it contains decorative elements - paintings and photographs in elegant frames, vases, figurines, boxes. All these things fit harmoniously into the classic interior, giving the apartment individuality.

There is almost always a clock in a classic interior. This can be a large grandfather clock with a pendulum or a wall clock, preferably round or rectangular in shape.

Design project: delicate one-room apartment in a classic style

Visualization: Dmitry Kudryashov

As a result of the redevelopment, the apartment will have two isolated rooms - a bedroom and a kitchen-living room, between which it is planned to block part of the opening and install an interior door. The studio space will combine the kitchen, dining room and living room.

The studio space, which performs the functions of three rooms at once, is delimited by color schemes, niches and well-placed furniture

Such a large-scale neighborhood can be achieved by increasing the area of the kitchen and adding a utility room to it. After eliminating the window and door unit, the loggia will also become a continuation of the kitchen: it will house a refrigerator and a cabinet. At the same time, the window sill unit with the radiator will remain. On the one hand, it will somewhat delimit the space, and on the other, it will turn into another work surface. The loggia will be insulated, and, thanks to double-glazed windows and a preserved radiator, it will not be cold in the kitchen.

It is proposed to arrange a bedroom in the room, highlighting a dressing room in it, which will allow you to do without massive cabinet furniture (the solution can be implemented only by blocking the doorway). All rooms will be united by a common tonality; the color scheme will be dominated by delicate pastel shades, combined with classical elements on the walls, ceiling and doors.

Fashionable decor - moldings in the form of rectangular frames, painted in the same color - will not overload the interior. It is planned to paint all the walls in the apartment, lay walnut-colored parquet boards on the floor in the kitchen-living room-loggia and in the bedroom, emphasizing the stylistic unity of the interiors, and light tiles in the hallway and bathroom.

Living room

Wall moldings will dilute plain painted walls, giving them relief.

The slopes of the niche are decorated with moldings, the mirror is fixed with an indent

The sofa will fit well into the niche, creating the illusion of privacy and isolation of the living room area. Thanks to the mirror on the wall of the niche, a perspective will appear in the chamber space.

Project by architect Pavel Zheleznov

According to Pavel, before this project he had not had to work with ceilings of 2.50 m. As a rule, the style of modern classics (and this is exactly what the customers wanted) implies greater height. However, the challenge was accepted.

The height of the ceilings was visually increased due to ceiling cornices and wide plinths. Since the apartment is located in a panel building, it was almost impossible to change the layout. Nevertheless, the location of the doorways was moved, and the openings themselves were expanded.

As a result, the rooms acquired the correct shape. Wardrobes were placed along the long walls in the hall and bedroom. “Since it was impossible to plan a full-fledged dressing room, we came up with a unique closet-wall,” says Pavel. “It’s quite roomy in the hallway and narrower in the bedroom.”

To visually enlarge the space, the cabinet doors were made mirrored, and to prevent the design from looking monotonous, closed facades alternate with open shelves for books. This gives the interior rhythm and dynamism. An unusual link between all the rooms was a hexagon-shaped ornament.

It can be seen in the pattern of floor tiles in the hall and parquet in the living room and bedroom, on the kitchen apron and decorative glazing of doors. “If you pay attention, the pattern of panels on the doors of the kitchen cabinets is the same as on the fronts of the cabinets in the hallway,” comments the architect. — In a small space, such “roll calls” are important.

Thanks to them, the interior looks seamless.” As for the color scheme, at the request of the owners, all the walls were painted a light shade of gray.

An exception was made only for the bathroom: here the white “hog” contrasts effectively with the gray-green walls and the same shade of French Metlakh tiles on the floor. Modern and impeccable. Classic! www.pavelzheleznov.com

One-room apartment in a classic style: ideas, tips, photos

Find out the cost

From this article you will learn:

Residents of a one-room apartment want it to be cozy, but at the same time it can accommodate several functional areas: a bedroom, a living room and even a work space. When developing the design of an apartment in Moscow, it is worth thinking about which style is best suited and will allow you to achieve the necessary goals. One of the most versatile options is a one-room apartment in a classic style. The advantages of this design lie in the functionality and at the same time elegance of the environment. In addition, the classic style always remains fashionable.

Classic apartment interior in the residential complex "Continental"

All photos of the project Classic furniture in the living room interior

In order to experience all the sophistication of life in a French mansion in Montmartre, you do not have to be born a chevalier or marquis. After all, a classic interior does not require its owners to confirm their title of nobility.

The design of an apartment in the Continental residential complex is an excellent example of French classics. The elegance that prevails here does not look deliberate. The composition was created with such ease and knowledge of nuances that it seems as if a real aristocrat had a hand in this creation.

The world of Parisian salons

All project photos Photo of the living room interior with stucco ceiling cornice

A corner sofa with a “carriage” screed has become the main element of the living room interior. The walls, as befits French classics, are done in light colors. All wooden furniture is designed in the same style.

In such a living room, immersed in the subtle aroma of peonies and filled with the glare of glass display cases and crystal pendants on the chandelier, one can feel the invisible presence of the Muse, the one who once excited the imagination of the inhabitants of Parisian salons.

The cream of society

All project photos Photos of the interior of a beautiful kitchen in cream tones

A compact kitchen with Louis-style chairs looks as elegant as a high-society dining room. The glossy floor adds splendor to the room, and majesty is added by pilasters and modillions in furniture decoration, characteristic of the classics. At a table decorated with a snow-white tablecloth with a lace border, you can gather the real cream of society.

Royal Rococo character

All photos of the project Idea for decorating a bedroom in soft blue tones

The bedroom in the apartment has a truly royal character. A bed with a decoration reminiscent of a tiara, pot-bellied bedside tables with vignettes, a seemingly airy couch - the pieces of furniture in this interior seem to be endowed with human features. Who knows, maybe we ended up in the enchanted castle from Beauty and the Beast...

Pearl blue shades of the bedroom are characteristic of one of the most capricious and playful trends in the group of classical styles - Rococo.

Caramel and coffee with milk

All photos of the project Photo of the bathroom interior with mosaic decoration

The bathroom with mosaic tiles in the niches is decorated in accordance with the general character of the apartment. The sink is fitted into a carved wooden cabinet. The configuration of the mirror in the figured frame and the design of the lamps have a retro feel. Shades of coffee with milk and melted caramel create an unobtrusive and respectable interior composition.

Features of the design of a one-room apartment in a classic style

A one-room apartment in a classic style must meet the three pillars of design - quality, good taste and elegance. A distinctive feature of this design is the use of natural materials - wood, leather, stone. This gives the room a luxurious look and creates a feeling of stability. The classic style can be recognized by the discreet colors of natural shades.

It is preferable to use a classic style in a one-room apartment if it has a large area and height, since such a design will not look very appropriate in small rooms.

Any apartment or house made in a classic style has the following features:

How to decorate the interior of a one-room apartment in a classic style

Basics

In order for a one-room apartment, decorated in a classic style, to look appropriate and beautiful, you must adhere to several important rules:

Materials

When selecting materials for the classic style of a one-room apartment, it is necessary to take into account that the final design should reflect the well-being of the owners.

You will have to spend a lot of money to purchase really high-quality materials:

If there is no opportunity or desire to spend money on expensive materials, you can choose high-quality analogues or imitations. Another option for implementing a classic style in a one-room apartment is to save on decoration, but add luxury through decorative elements and furniture. When using this option, the walls do not require special decoration - you can get by with wallpaper of the same color or painting.

All materials used in the classical style must be of high quality. For fabrics, it is better to use satin, velor and silk, and wood - only valuable species. Plaster stucco molding, large chandeliers, mirrors in patterned frames and crystal vases will add charm to a one-room apartment.

Color spectrum

Decorating a one-room apartment in a classic style implies full compliance of all components. One of the important indicators of this design is color. Preference should be given to the following colors:

Subtle colors are one of the main signs of a classic style, which will give a one-room apartment a sophisticated look. As for furniture, any color of wood can be used here; a large number of glass and mirror surfaces are also welcome.

The advantage of a light color scheme is that it visually enlarges the room, which is undoubtedly very important for a one-room apartment. Another integral part of the classic style is gilding, but without excess. You should avoid conspicuous colors and patterns - everything should be moderate and calm.

Lighting and decor

Classic style is also expressed in certain interior and decorative elements:

To decorate a one-room apartment in a classic style, you can add stucco and frescoes, but you shouldn’t go too overboard so that the room retains its discreet appearance. One of the main elements that can be highlighted in the classic style is the window design. To do this, you should use beautiful velvet or silk curtains with a large number of different folds. Additionally, you can decorate the curtains with tassels and lambrequins.

The main element in a one-room apartment in a classic style is a chandelier. It is preferable if it is made of crystal, has several levels and many hanging parts. To complete the overall picture, you can place lamps on the walls, the main thing is that they are symmetrical relative to the chandelier.

An example of such a design of a one-room apartment in a classic style can be seen in the photo:

Application of the basics of classics in a studio apartment

Despite the roots of the style going back to ancient times, the use of modern household appliances is appropriate in such an interior. You can avoid spoiling the overall mood of the room by integrating such machines into the furniture. For this purpose, equipment manufacturers produce special models, and furniture manufacturers supplement their products with niches. These features must be taken into account in order for the classic style to become relevant and comfortable in modern apartments.

Classic style will be a win-win option for the living room. It is worth spending some time and money to decorate this particular room, since it is central to any home. Natural materials, exquisite upholstery fabrics and decorative porcelain behind glass cabinet doors will make a lasting impression on visitors. Such a living room will speak more eloquently about the owners than any other room in the house. It is important that the image is as impeccable as only a classic can be.

The large hall is adequately complemented by columns and arches. This room allows you to use a large number of mirrors in gilded frames. Such an interior will shine with luxury and well-being.

A kitchen in a classic style also looks interesting. The design of this room requires a special approach, since the abundance of appliances and plumbing equipment requires the manufacture of specific furniture. Retractable blocks and niches can hide modern technology. Metal elements should be stylized as classics.

The most suitable shades for the interior belong to the natural range. The furniture is mainly made from materials that imitate natural wood. Tables and work surfaces of low height are most suitable for measured and calm work in such a kitchen. Chairs and dining table can be decorated with carvings. Tableware for entertaining guests is elegant and made of fine porcelain. Applying the family coat of arms to such dishes can emphasize the sophistication of the decor.

The style will be complemented by exquisite little details that are pleasing to the eye. This is an abundance of frills, laces, lamps, candlesticks, tassels and much more.

In order for a classic style to fit seamlessly into modern life, it is necessary to combine practicality and sophistication. By approaching the process of decorating an apartment with due attention and diligence, you can achieve an ideal image that will delight the owners of the apartment and their guests for many years.

Choosing furniture for a one-room apartment in a classic style

Classic furniture goes well with the light shades of the walls of a one-room apartment. Interior design specialists often use antique furniture or its imitations in their projects, which can be purchased from special factories.

In addition to individual orders, classic-style furniture for a one-room apartment can also be purchased in regular specialized stores.

It is worth paying attention to models that have the following features:

Furniture that looks elegant and at the same time performs the necessary functions will fit well into the classic interior of a one-room apartment. For example, a folding sofa made in a simple style is perfect. A carved cabinet or table for toiletries with a large number of drawers will also decorate the apartment. You should not draw attention to small details, so it is better to use plain and simple furniture upholstery.

An example of a “one-room apartment” in a classic style can be seen in the photo:

It is worth remembering that in this case we are talking about the design of a one-room apartment, so it is better not to use a large number of paintings, vases and figurines as decoration, as there is a danger that the room will become like a warehouse.

Another symbol of the classic style is the fireplace. But in a one-room apartment it is problematic to organize a real fireplace, so you can use an electric version or an imitation, which will make the room cozier.

Light and color

Natural lighting will be a priority for any room. In a classic style this is especially true, since large elegant frames are an integral part of the interior. Designers recommend using stained glass for the classic style. Such a product can become the central figure of the entire setting.

Artificial light is represented primarily by the central lamp. These can be metal multi-arm products in the form of torches or candles. Fabric shades that provide soft diffused light would also be appropriate. Crystal chandeliers will add chic to the image of the room, sparkling with the shimmer of light in the edges of the pendants. The central lamp is usually complemented by small side fixtures that are designed in the same style.

The base color should be noble and calm. You should choose from beige, milky or cream colors. Such a background will allow you not to limit yourself in the future in choosing the colors of furniture and accessories. Rich colors would be appropriate. They are best used for walls or furniture. These can be shades of green, blue, brown or burgundy. Architectural structures are made in white.

The most suitable materials for decorating a room in a classic style are:

  • marble;
  • tree;
  • natural fabrics;
  • leather

As decoration I use gilding or suitable imitation. If possible, you should avoid cheap, low-quality materials that will not allow the interior to look expensive and noble.

Designer tips for decorating a one-room apartment in a classic style

With the help of redevelopment, you can enlarge the room, which will make it more comfortable for living. In the case of a one-room apartment, a good option would be to turn it into a studio.

In the studio layout of a one-room apartment in a classic style, the design of the living room and kitchen can coincide, and a bar counter can be installed as a divider into zones.

If you have a wide balcony or loggia, you can combine them and make a dining room in the resulting space.

The use of shiny elements visually enlarges the room. In addition, gloss gives the apartment a special shine. If you use such surfaces on furniture, they will increase the space, and a shiny ceiling and floor will visually add height to the room.

One of the most famous and popular methods of enlarging a room is the use of mirrors. They can be built into furniture, mounted on walls or next to windows. In a one-room apartment in a classic style, you can use any of these options.

Proper lighting is of great importance in a one-room apartment in a classic style. With the help of lamps you can even divide the apartment into zones. Each part of the living space should choose its own light source. In the living room it will be a large chandelier, in the kitchen - spotlights, and in a place intended for relaxation, a table lamp with a beautiful floor lamp is quite enough. Thanks to the variety of lamps, you can change the intensity and nature of the light.

The basis of the classical style in the interior can be considered not even muted colors and patterns, but various plaster finishing elements, such as baseboards, stucco, moldings, etc. These decorations are accents characteristic of the classical style.

The use of these elements gives a one-room apartment a strict and solid look, as well as a sense of orderliness, which is important for a living space.

If the apartment initially has decorations like stucco, then it is better to keep it, but if not, then you can purchase a similar element in the store.

With low ceilings in a one-room apartment, it is better not to get carried away with stucco, but skirting boards for the ceiling will be appropriate. In addition to decorating and expressing a classic style, they give the interior organization and neatness. After all, any content looks better in a beautiful frame.

For the classic style of a one-room apartment, it is better to use wide baseboards for the floor, this will give the room a more expensive look.

By the way, in addition to ceilings, you can decorate walls and even doors with stucco.

It would be appropriate to complement the classic style of a one-room apartment with various decorative elements: antique boxes, interesting vases, paintings in original frames. Such accessories give the room individuality and unusualness.

A frequent element of classic interior design is a clock. They can hang on the wall or stand on the floor, be with or without a pendulum, have a round or rectangular shape.

Characteristic features of the style

Full-fledged classics are manifested in mother-of-pearl tints, bas-reliefs and columns. The furniture is also decorated with carvings and patterns. Expensive wood species are used to make it:

  • pink;
  • lemon;
  • Karelian birch;
  • cherry;
  • nut.

You can also use rare antique specimens. All this is characteristic of true connoisseurs of art. If the question is only about creating an attractive look for the rooms of the house, then you can use simpler materials and copies of antiques.

Accessories are of particular importance in creating style. Engravings, paintings, elaborate frames and an abundance of mirrors complement the interior. Curtains covering windows or used as partitions must consist of several layers. Their colors and decorations are very intricate. The use of lambrequins, draperies and frills is appropriate here.

A special place is occupied by sculptures, from small figurines on bedside tables to full-length human figures. The cabinets are filled with books in solid bindings. Candlesticks are used to decorate living rooms and bedrooms.
