Wardrobe rooms solve the problem of storing clothes in an apartment. In new buildings, separate rooms are allocated for these purposes. In old apartments, residents are trying to remodel or allocate storage rooms and corners of rooms for storing suits and coats. Regardless of the size of the dressing room, they try to organize it correctly and beautifully. It is the doors that help to organically fit the room into the interior of the apartment.
Hinged doors for dressing room
Such models can be considered a classic design option for doorways. The advantages of the swing system include:
- efficiency;
- organic combination with the interior of any style;
- wide range of models, numerous offers of materials.
Disadvantages: the mandatory presence of free space for opening the doors and, in a sense, the patterns of the models.
Depending on the number of leaves, doors can be single-leaf or double-leaf. The choice of model is influenced by the size of the doorway, the size of the dressing room and the design of the room.
Faux leather
This version of sliding doors is quite rare, and this gives it a special uniqueness and charm. Faux leather will highlight the owner’s taste and add solidity and prestige to the interior. The disadvantages of such doors include their high cost, but it is quite justified - externally, the material can hardly be distinguished from real leather.

Materials for making doors
In the production of door panels, natural wood, MDF, chipboard, glass, and plastic are used.
Natural wood is the most environmentally friendly and expensive material and fits organically into the design of rooms of any style. Advantages: durability, easy maintenance.
For lovers of eco-friendly furnishings who do not want to spend significant amounts of money on natural wood, we can recommend choosing models made from MDF and chipboard. The advantages of the products include easy care, low weight, easy installation, affordable prices, many design options for canvases, and a large selection of manufacturers.
Glass panels cannot be called popular, but thanks to non-standard design ideas, such doors perfectly complement dressing rooms of different styles. Advantages: non-standard refined appearance, durability, easy care.
Cassette
They are also called pencil cases. Cassette doors are the most expensive on this list. The high cost is due to the design of the system: the doors are installed deep into the wall and move inside it. This helps save space, but they require a hollow or thick wall to install, making the job more difficult. The installation is quite complicated, so it is better to entrust it to an experienced technician.

Features of doors of different designs
Hinged doors for a dressing room can be panel or frame.
Panel models are a pine frame (frame), covered with sheets (MDF, plywood, chipboard) and filled with special filler. To give the doors a refined and luxurious look, the panels can be covered with veneer. The undoubted advantage of these models is the ability to choose a film that imitates wood of any shade, even the most exclusive. Other advantages include: light weight, strength, low cost of materials for manufacturing.
In the production of frame doors, vertical and horizontal bars of medium width are used. The door frame is formed by external vertical and horizontal bars. Shields or glass are used to fill the gaps between the bars.
Sliding doors to the dressing room
The popularity of the design is explained by several reasons: it is easy to fit to any opening and installed in rooms of different sizes.
Advantages:
- safety and ease of use;
- various options for doors for the dressing room (folding, compartment, book, accordion);
- availability of replacement of individual structural parts;
- space saving (no space required to open the doors);
- stylish aesthetic appearance thanks to the variety of panel design options. It is not difficult to choose a model that harmoniously complements the design of the room.
When ordering sliding doors, you need to take into account the design flaws:
- limited view of the wardrobe;
- canvases do not always move silently;
- the doors do not fit tightly;
- structural weakness can lead to door breakage;
- the cost of sliding models is higher than hinged ones.
Standard equipment for a sliding system: frame, sliding mechanisms, door leaves, fittings and trim.
Natural wood
Doors made of valuable wood are a symbol of reliability, durability and high status. They outlast almost all other types of materials in terms of service life, if, of course, they are properly cared for. The only thing you should protect wood from is the increased level of humidity in the room. Doors made of natural wood are an indispensable attribute in Provence and country, as well as in ethnic and eco-style.

Door leaf materials: brief characteristics
When choosing a door, it is important to take into account the different properties of materials (weight, durability, compliance with the interior):
- plastic is quite easy to maintain, light in weight and easy to install and decorate, so it is recommended to use it for installation in children's and youth rooms. The material is quite affordable, but is not considered durable;
- wood - will look elegant and noble in a room of any style and purpose (bedroom, living room). Specially treated wood is designed for long service life. You can install doors painted (easy to change the color palette) or varnished (the appearance of the wood cut is preserved). Thanks to the production of doors from different materials, you can choose models at an affordable price;
- glass doors are becoming more and more in demand. The main reasons for its popularity: various options for decorating the door leaf, affordable price, non-standard appearance. Manufacturers offer glass with a matte, glossy or mirror surface. The interior styles look organic: modern, high-tech, loft.
Don't rush into choosing a material. It is better to first look at the various design options for door panels in magazines or on the Internet. New technologies for processing materials are constantly emerging, and designers also offer non-standard ways to decorate doors.
Decoration
Decorating doors is considered a rather labor-intensive process. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with all possible design ideas; most often, glass and mirror doors and plastic panels are decorated. There are a large number of options for shades and decor; the picture is applied using photo printing or gluing color film. This option is considered quite common, as is sandblasting. The image can be standard or custom-made. Such designs are characterized by resistance to mechanical damage, the original appearance is preserved even under the influence of ultraviolet rays.
Decor options:
- sandblasting - allows you to make glass matte and decorate it with drawings and patterns;
- photo printing - allows you to change the color of the glass, replace the picture with another one;
- contour stained glass;
- artistic painting;
- film stained glass;
- ion plasma sputtering;
- airbrush.
Types of sliding doors
Sliding doors to the dressing room can be called the favorites of the model range due to ease of installation and a large offer from different manufacturers. Most often, one sheet is installed, which moves due to the movement of rollers along guides. Moreover, it is believed that the noise level can be significantly reduced by installing rollers and guides made of the same material. Additional attachment of the brush seal along the contour of the door leaf allows for a tight fit.
Folding wardrobe doors are suitable for elongated small bedrooms, in which the wardrobe is located opposite the bed. The models are distinguished by the absence of a threshold and are presented in two types of doors:
- The book is completed with two equal door panels. The door moving device is suspended and installed in a special door frame with a groove;
- Accordion doors for a dressing room consist of four door leaves and are arranged like folding doors.
Pencil doors can be called a hidden system. The main element of the system is the pencil case, which is mounted in the doorway. The design of the guide and rollers is completed. The door leaf is suspended in the opening, and the pencil case itself is lined with plasterboard and plastered.
The dimensions of the pencil case must ensure free movement of the canvas. Models can be single-field (one panel is pushed into the pencil case) or double-field (the panels are moved to one side or different). Installing such doors allows you to freely manage the space - you can hang pictures on the walls of the dressing room or install furniture near them. A significant disadvantage is the complex and time-consuming installation.
Louvered doors deserve special attention. Opening/closing of doors is carried out according to the principle of operation of folding systems (book or accordion). A distinctive feature of the design is the use of a durable frame in which the cross bars are fixed at a certain angle. Structures can be made of wood, bamboo, plastic, metal. Such doors can be considered the most suitable for arranging dressing rooms in bedrooms, as they provide natural ventilation of the interior. However, this quality also has negative sides:
- light and external odors easily penetrate into the dressing room;
- When restoring/updating panels, each transverse element must be carefully processed.
Radius doors for a dressing room are distinguished by the presence of curved door leaves. Moreover, the doors can be convex, concave, oval, round or combined. Such canvases are made to order, which explains the high cost of the doors. Before manufacturing the structure, the guide line and the radius of curvature of the blade are determined. The door material must have sufficient strength to maintain its desired shape throughout its entire service life. It is recommended to entrust the installation of the system to specialists who can take accurate measurements and carry out the installation correctly.
It is difficult to evaluate the convenience or practicality of different door models based only on drawings and photographs. The installation of some products has a rather high price, but it pays off when used, so do not neglect the help of professionals if it is difficult to make a choice on your own.
Decoracrylic
These are acrylic doors, between the leaves of which an insert with natural motifs is placed: leaves, flowers, stones, shells, and so on. Acrylic in this case can be transparent. This design of sliding doors is ideal for an interior where natural notes are already present. For example, the pattern on the pillows can echo the inserts on the doors.
