Material characteristics

For finishing work in the corridor, foyer, hall, hallway, artificial decorative brick is used. Outwardly, it resembles a tile, but in properties it resembles a stone, while weighing less. It is easy to install, environmentally friendly, and has good heat and sound insulation properties. An analogue of the coating, clinker tiles, is non-flammable and is used for lining stoves and fireplaces. Even in unfavorable environmental conditions it can last quite a long time without losing its attractiveness. You can increase the service life of the bricks in the hallway by treating them with a special water-repellent solution. The material has a variety of patterns and geometric shapes. Due to this, you can create architectural compositions, bevel corners, design columns and doorways.

Choosing the right material for decorative brickwork

Decorative brick in the interior of the hallway
Artificial brick in the interior of the hallway is used quite often, so there is no shortage of it on the finishing materials market. Modern manufacturers offer a large selection of this facing material, which will allow you to bring any design idea to life and create a unique interior in the corridor. When choosing a suitable option for solid or fragmented decoration of the hallway walls, you need to take into account the total area of the room, the features of its interior design and furniture. Facing bricks for interior decoration of the corridor are selected based on the following criteria:

  • Stylistics;
  • Color;
  • Texture;
  • Size;
  • Price.

After the main finishing material has been selected, glue, joint compound and varnish are purchased to form an external protective coating. On the World Wide Web you can see photos of clinker bricks in the hallway, gypsum bricks, agromerate bricks, etc.

Advantages and disadvantages of materials

Modern synthetic materials have a number of positive qualities:

  • Available technologies for making homemade facing bricks - filling ready-made molds made of silicone and polyurethane with a solution;
  • The synthetic analogue is much lighter in weight.

Homemade bricks made from plaster or concrete are easier to lay than natural stone or brickwork.

It is impossible not to mention some other disadvantages:

  • The reliability and durability of the imitation is much lower than that of real masonry;
  • Individual fragments may fall off due to rough mechanical impact;
  • The integrity of crumbled plaster decor is difficult to restore after damage to part of the wall.

When making gypsum bricks for the wall in the corridor yourself, it is recommended to make a small supply. The same wish applies to decorative painting and protective varnish coating.

Varieties

Nowadays you can find a huge assortment in construction stores. There are five main types of bricks used in corridor design:

  • Cement;
  • Plaster;
  • Flexible tiles;
  • Panels;
  • Clinker tiles (analogue).

Each of these types has its own composition, installation features, advantages and disadvantages. It is possible to use decorative bricks in interior design by laying individual bricks in the hallway. Hard-to-reach places can be decorated with flexible tiles. And immediately cover the entire wall with panels. Much depends on the designer’s ideas, the type of room, its shape, the presence or absence of corners, columns, and the level of humidity. We will look at all the options in detail so that you have an idea about each and can make the right choice when purchasing.

Clinker tiles

A brick wall can be created using a popular analogue - clinker tiles. It is made from clay, then fired in muffle furnaces and covered with glaze. This is a heat-resistant material; it is used to line fireplaces, stoves and decorate rooms with high air temperatures. It weighs little and has a thickness of about two centimeters. The modern market offers a wide range of colors. These properties allow this material to be used in any stylistic direction. The only drawback is the cost - it will cost more than decorative bricks. The advantage is the strength and durability of the coating; it does not require renewal or restoration over a long period and is easy to maintain.

From cement

One type is cement brick. The composition includes clay, sand and high-strength cement. The surface becomes rough and textured; it must be protected from high humidity. When caring for the wall, it is not recommended to use chemicals to avoid damaging it. You can increase wear resistance by mixing the composition with stone chips. The disadvantage is the difficulties associated with the formation of a large amount of dust from cutting during installation. The product does not harden immediately after kneading, but within three weeks; it must be stored away from moisture. Cement brick is environmentally friendly, breathable, and does not cause allergic reactions. The undoubted advantage is the ease of installation and long service life.

Gypsum stone

The most economical layout option is from gypsum stone.

Unlike cement, gypsum stone weighs little, it can even be laid on drywall. Gypsum bricks are very fragile and must be laid carefully to avoid damage. Gypsum, like cement, is afraid of high humidity in the room; in the corridor the air humidity should not be more than 45-55 percent. The stone is perfect for creating designs in the following styles: loft, hi-tech, minimalism, Provence or classic. In construction supermarkets you can choose gypsum stone of different colors; the color range is wide. To enhance strength, experts recommend coating the finished surface with a water-repellent varnish, this will increase the performance properties of the gypsum stone.

Flexible tiles

An innovation in the design of space inside and out is flexible tiles. It is ideal for renovations in corridors, halls, hallways, foyers and other rooms with a lot of hard-to-reach places. You can create architectural compositions that imitate stone structures, bringing to life the most daring ideas of designers. The composition includes polymer resins or cement and crushed mineral stones. This is an unpretentious material, resistant to weathering and negative environmental influences. It does not break, does not wear out, bends perfectly, and hides all the unevenness of the surface being coated. The rich color palette of dyes pleases even the most demanding customers. The surfaces do not require special care and will last a long time.

Panels

For quick cladding, panels that imitate a brick wall are used. They can cover an entire three-meter wall. Brick panels are made from compressed wood chips or polyvinyl chloride and are printed with a pattern reminiscent of brickwork. The downside is that they can easily burn or lose their original appearance due to mechanical damage. Ease of installation and maintenance, light weight, environmental friendliness, long service life with careful handling are the obvious advantages of PVC and MDF. The panels are highly durable and you can easily attach pieces of furniture to them.

Brick panels serve well in damp rooms. This gives them an advantage over gypsum and cement. The color range presented on the construction market allows this type of material to be used in a wide variety of design styles.

Types of decorative bricks

There are several types of decorative bricks on the modern market. Therefore, if necessary, choosing the ideal option for yourself will be quite simple.

Clinker brick

This type of decorative brick is often called ceramic, since the clay from which it is made is subjected to double hardening, which allows the coating to withstand temperature changes, exposure to various types of pollution, mechanical damage and moisture. “Clinker tiles” are produced on the same principle as bricks, but are smaller in size, namely in thickness. This wall covering is offered in a variety of textures and colors and is perfect for decorating an eco-style interior.

Gypsum brick

The production of decorative bricks from gypsum does not require large investments, so this type of cladding has an attractive price, has a lot of positive qualities, but, unfortunately, is fragile and sensitive to moisture. Gypsum brick is used to decorate walls, individual areas or doorways. Can be painted or used in its original form.

Glass fiber reinforced concrete brick

Decorative brick with such an intricate name is a mixture of cement with quartzite glass threads, which are used as binding fibers. The material has amazing colors, is characterized by high strength and resistance to chips. Compared to natural stone, it is lighter in weight and compact in size.

Flexible brick

A facing material of this type appeared on the building materials market quite recently and is a semblance of ordinary decorative tiles, prone to deformation. Even with slight heating, the shape of such a brick will begin to change, so if you decide to decorate the walls in the hallway with a “flexible” coating, place it as far as possible from lamps or wall sconces. All kinds of mosaic masonry as decoration in this case can be called the most successful option.

Ways to decorate a room

You can decorate a room in a variety of ways. In one case, the walls are completely closed. In another case, individual details are decorated - a door, a mirror, furniture locations. You can create objects that resemble destroyed structures. A common type of finishing is laying on protruding places to protect from external influences. An interesting option would be to create an arch from gypsum stone or cement brick. You can visually combine individual interior elements by simulating brickwork on walls, doors and adjacent furniture. An original solution would be a ceiling covered with flexible tiles or brick panels. They often use the “aging” technique, combining them with fragments of plaster. You can remove the excess length of the hallway by creating columns or pillars covered with flexible tiles.

Options for solid and fragmented wall decoration

Decorative brick in the hallway looks very appropriate. To decorate the walls with them, different masonry options are used. The most popular techniques for decorating a hallway with decorative bricks are:

  • continuous cladding of all walls;
  • continuous cladding of one wall;
  • brick lining of the protruding parts of the hallway;
  • cladding of individual sections of walls in order to place bright, eye-catching accents;
  • imitation of destroyed surfaces, suggesting an uneven height of brick cladding, which is very similar to a destroyed wall.

For wall cladding, you can use not one, but several types of this finishing material, differing from each other in color, size and texture. For example, you can lay one wall completely with bricks, and decorate the rest with small fragments of brickwork.

Decorative brick in the interior of the hallway

Photos of decorative brick in the hallway make it clear that the use of this material allows for an unlimited flight of design imagination. With its help, you can stylishly and unusually design a corridor, which is a kind of “calling card” of any home. The most popular ideas for using decorative bricks in the interior of a hallway include:

  • Retro technology. It involves a combination of fragments of brickwork on the walls with Venetian plaster.
  • Zoning of internal space. Decorative bricks can be used to decorate a place to store clothes and shoes.
  • Creating an imitation of columns that give the room coziness. To do this, the projections of the walls are laid out with bricks, slightly extending beyond their limits.
  • Decoration of the ceiling with fragments of brickwork, which will organically fit into industrial interiors.
  • Decorating arches or semi-arches with decorative bricks, which will be an alternative to door structures.

Styles

The most daring ideas of designers are brought to life by decorating the corridor with decorative bricks. Loft is in demand - a factory style, which is created using white, brown and gray bricks in combination with metal or concrete parts. Facing with glossy white brick is suitable for styles such as Provence and minimalism. Red, yellow and brown will look great in the ethnic genre. Dark tones of decoration are suitable for Baroque and Gothic. Natural shades, close to nature, are suitable for Scandinavian and country style. High-tech implies a perfectly flat surface, in this case the laying out must be done carefully.

A combination of white and black will look good here. The same combination is suitable for minimalism.

In corridors with low ceilings and small-sized surfaces, covering entire surfaces with decorative bricks will look unsightly. In this case, it is better to decorate individual interior elements.

Tips and tricks from professional designers

Decorating the walls with artificial brick will allow you to create a unique interior in the hallway, and do it yourself. The advice of professional designers who offer the following will help you with this:

  • Cover the wall with white aged brick to create a practical and functional interior that matches the factory style.
  • Decorate a gray plain hallway wall with brutal fragments of rough brickwork to complement the urban interior of the corridor.
  • Laying bricks on corners and other protruding wall elements would be appropriate in ethnic styles.

Successful photos of brick in the hallway make it clear that this facing material provides an unlimited flight of designer imagination.

Color spectrum

The visual perception is influenced by the color scheme used in the finishing design. White color and shades close to it expand the space and create a feeling of spaciousness even in a small hallway. Dark colors in the corridor are used for practical reasons - the surface is less dirty. It is better to take a coating that is not resistant to moisture in a dark shade to extend its service life. Manufacturers offer a lot of shades; you can add dyes of any color to the composition, matching the bricks to the interior. The pigment is added immediately to the composition. The material can be heterogeneous, imitating a natural coating or simply different in color. A masking technology is proposed with a special agent that can remove chips and differences in shades. If you cover the surface with paint after laying it out, it will look cheaper, and if the integrity of the coating is damaged, the difference between the external and internal shade will be immediately visible.

White color and shades close to it expand the space and create a feeling of spaciousness even in a small hallway.

How to paint false bricks

The imitation of masonry can be made in a single color - white, light brown or beige. The most natural look will be imitation of silicate, clinker or red brick. Using the same method, you can update a boring monochromatic plaster coating with imitation bricks or “wild stone”.

If the artificial masonry looks somehow “boring”, you can manually lighten or darken individual blocks. The most attractive look is the combination of fragments that are more different in saturation in one color scheme - milky, terracotta, sand or rocky gray. You can add pigment to the water-based whitewash for bricks on the corridor wall. The surface can be slightly shaded with a sprayer with a bronze or metallic effect.

Depending on the desired effect, coloring is carried out using different devices:

  • Spray bottle;
  • Spray paint;
  • Paint brush;
  • Whitewash brush;
  • Porous sponge;
  • Roller with decorative attachments.

To treat a solid wall, it is recommended to treat it with a primer or special impregnation. Finish coating – acrylic, silicate, any interior paint recommended for decorative plaster (same base).

The most natural look will be imitation of silicate, clinker or red brick.

How to choose

Construction stores offer many options for hallway coverings. We have discussed the main types, their properties, pros and cons of use in this article. The design of the room should look harmonious and stylish. The main rule in any endeavor is to do better than before. The owner of any home will be happy if his guest is fascinated by the appearance of the interior.

The design of the room should look harmonious and stylish.

Basic steps when choosing:

  • Pay attention to the layout of the space, the lighting of the place, the surroundings and furniture;
  • Decide on the concept of stylistic direction;
  • Decide on a color scheme;
  • Understand what humidity is in the air and how hot it is;
  • Calculate the budget for the acquisition;

The main disadvantages of finishing the corridor with brick

A brick wall in a narrow corridor is not always appropriate. Too voluminous decor of “bare” walls, imitating the absence of plaster, is not suitable for noble interiors - with expensive cladding and interior doors with inserts.

You need to be especially careful when visually expanding a narrow corridor with mirrors. A reflective wall will visually “double” the exposed brick, creating the appearance of “overhang” on both sides.

How to install

Registration is carried out in several stages:

  • Before starting repairs, it is necessary to determine the size of the surface to be coated and add to this number about 13% of the required material. To determine the number of parts needed, you can draw a diagram or lay it out on the floor with allowance for joints and relief;
  • The next stage is preparing the walls for laying. The old wallpaper is removed, the paint is cleaned, all irregularities are eliminated, the wall is thoroughly primed;
  • Layout is carried out from the bottom up, the seams are taped. The elements of the first row should be in the center of the elements of the second row;
  • After the glue has dried, clean it from dust with a damp sponge and treat it with an anti-fungal agent; you can additionally coat it with varnish. The product can be purchased separately if it was not included in the kit.

When laying, use adhesive designed for a specific type of coating. This will ensure the strength and durability of the structure.

White brick in the hallway

White color is quite easily perceived by people, gives a feeling of cleanliness, light, airiness and, when used skillfully in the interior, visually increases the area of the room. Therefore, white decorative brick can be called a win-win option for decorating the walls in the hallway. Firstly, such rooms always need additional lighting. Secondly, white brick goes well with other shades in the room design and looks stylish and elegant.

Installation

PVC brick panels are installed on a prepared frame, and it does not matter what kind of relief they have. The appearance of the cladding work done will depend on how correctly the frame was installed. This is what is most difficult in installing PVC panels, since the geometric correctness of the plane depends on this method of fastening.

Tool preparation

To properly install PVC panels, you need to purchase the following materials and tools:

  • metal or wooden slats, which can be purchased at any hardware store, but they can be supplied with the panels;
  • a simple thread or plumb line, which is required to check the vertical;
  • hammer drill, dowels and screws for installation.

Please note that to make a wooden frame, you must first treat the material with an antiseptic, because this will increase its service life

Frame installation

PVC panels must be in the same plane. First you need to make markings, which must be done as accurately as possible.

You can do this as follows:

you need to attach the thread to the wall, which will allow you to immediately determine plane deviations; it is necessary to add the thickness of the insulation to the resulting size, and this must be done in a slight plus

Please note that when you attach the insulation, ensure its safety, since deformation will lead to the loss of its basic properties. It will be necessary to leave a gap of 1 cm; tying is carried out over the entire plane, where fastenings are made using dowels or anchors. intermediate slats need to be attached

In this case, it is necessary to base it on the width of the insulation, and it is not recommended to mount them at a distance of more than one meter from each other. After installing the frame, you can begin attaching the waterproofing. The film should overlap.

Implementation of fastening

At the very beginning, you need to set the upper bar. Using a thread, you need to determine the place where the bottom rail will be located. Next you need to secure the intermediate strips. Now you can start attaching the panels decorated to look like brick.

Next, you can install slabs on the frame. You should approach this work extremely responsibly. You need to ensure that all elements are installed smoothly.

This work will require various materials.

  • starting and finishing profiles attached to the slats; panels will be installed on them in the future;
  • construction level, thanks to which you can control how level the slabs are installed;
  • a construction stapler that can be used to secure all materials.

  • You need to secure the starting profile with a stapler. If self-tapping screws are used for this, they must be installed in specially prepared holes.
  • If the panels are used for external surface cladding, then the connection does not need to be made tightly, but it is better to leave a gap of a few millimeters. This will avoid problems with the expansion of the material from exposure to moisture.
  • Using a stapler, you need to attach panel to panel to the wall. This action must be continued until one slab remains. Having installed the penultimate slab, you need to install the finishing profile. The last panel is cut to the required size and inserted into the structure.
  • The last panel does not require fastening, since it is held in place by the finishing profile. At this step, the finishing work using panels can be considered complete.

In the video below you will see the installation of PVC panels under brick.

Choosing the color of artificial brick for the interior

A huge advantage of decorative brick finishing is the variety of its design, making it easy to choose a stylish option for any interior. The color of the bricks depends on the materials used, as well as on the addition of dyes, which allow you to achieve a wide variety of shades - from natural to rich and bright. The tone of the finish is selected depending on the style of the interior and the overall color scheme of the room. Today, both dark and light brick corridors in an apartment are in fashion.

Natural brick finishing is suitable for many interior styles

In addition to color, the texture of the finish is also important. Roughness and relief are achieved by sculpting and casting, as well as by adding marble, granite or other stone chips to the structure of the material. The glossy texture is provided by glaze or varnish, which is used to coat the masonry last. So, let's look at the main colors of decorative bricks for the corridor.

White

Wall cladding with white brick is suitable for Scandinavian interior style, urban loft aesthetics, fashionable hi-tech, eco and other modern trends. White masonry combines well with other finishes: paint, plaster, thick wallpaper. You can decorate all the walls in the corridor and hallway in white brick without fear that the design will look excessive. In addition, white color is a good way to make a room visually larger, which is important for small corridors of typical apartments.

The universal white color looks great in an interior of any size.

Another advantage of white brick is the absence of dyes and other impurities. If you do not varnish the finish, you will get a stylish, textured finish that looks good in spacious loft-style hallways. Glossy texture is the best choice for high-tech, to achieve it, use a special varnish or opt for decorative brick coated with glaze.

Red

Stylish red brick is ideal for a loft, but it can even fit seamlessly into a classic interior style. Red brick cladding is best suited for large hallways and corridors, but in small rooms the material should be used fragmentarily, for example, to accent one wall or decorate corners.

Bold red color looks great with dark elements in the interior

Red brick can be used as a stand-alone finish to decorate large hallways or in combination with other materials of different textures and colors. The shade of natural brick looks good in combination with wood, forged elements, steel, and chrome. Combine this finish with paint, wallpaper, plaster, siding, and not only monochrome, but also contrasting design will look beautiful.

Other colors

On sale you can find finishes in a variety of shades - from light pastels to dark and rich ones. Within the same interior, you can use bricks of different tones, even contrasting ones, this significantly expands the possibilities for decorative design. You can lay light and dark bricks in a checkerboard pattern, create patterns, gradations, arranging elements in various combinations.

Black or dark gray brick looks unusual and mysterious

Notice how stylish the decorative bricks on the wall in the hallway photo look, laid in a variety of combinations. Don't limit your imagination to create a truly unique and fashionable design.

Using bricks of different shades you can create an original decor

Do not combine white and red bricks, as well as tiles with different textures, in one room, so as not to deprive the design of integrity and harmony.

What other wallpaper or materials can be combined with?

Decorating the entire hallway with masonry is inappropriate; emphasis is usually placed on the central part. It is combined:

  1. With other wallpaper: single-color, in contrast with the masonry, narrow pale stripes (allow you to adjust the space, photo wallpaper;
  2. Tree;
    A combination of brickwork and wood.
  3. Decorative textured plaster;
  4. Liquid wallpaper;
  5. Mirror finish;
  6. Plastic.

Suitable for the floor:

  • Dark laminate;
    Dark laminate.
  • Linoleum for parquet.

The ceiling should be light, warm beige shades are allowed.

Work order

Interior wall decoration with brick-like decorative panels is carried out using tools such as:

  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • screwdriver;
  • jigsaw or hand saw;
  • construction stapler.

In addition to panels imitating brickwork, you will need:

  • self-tapping screws and dowel nails;
  • wooden or metal slats;
  • fasteners;
  • starting profile;
  • finishing profile;
  • Staples.

Installation of sheathing

To create the base for decorative cladding, wooden planks with a cross-section of at least 20x20 mm are used. The process of installing a wooden sheathing is simpler compared to its metal counterpart, however, a frame made of wooden planks has its own characteristics:

  • it is not advisable to use a wooden frame in rooms with high humidity;
  • wooden elements of the sheathing must be treated with special antifungal compounds.

Installation of a wooden frame is carried out as follows:

first of all, the wooden slats are attached to the floor and ceiling, after which they begin to install the longitudinal posts in increments not exceeding 50 cm. Holes for fastening are drilled along the length of the wooden slats in increments of 50-70 cm. The slats are applied to the surface to be treated, and through the holes made holes marking the wall. Next, holes are drilled in the wall and “sockets” for fastening elements are placed, and vertical frame posts are mounted. At all stages of installation work, the quality of the installation is controlled using a building level. To improve sound and heat insulation, the space between the frame slats can be filled with insulation.

The process of creating a metal frame is close to the technology of constructing a wooden structure, the main difference is the use of a large number of hardware. The lathing is based on metal UD (narrow slats) and CD (wide) profiles. Initially, the guide posts are attached to the floor and ceiling, the slats are mounted parallel to each other. Then the intermediate slats are installed in the following order: parallel lines are marked, providing a step between the vertical metal profiles within 50-70 cm. U-shaped fasteners are installed along the marking line, the number of fasteners is at least five pieces per vertical stand. A wall profile is inserted into the guide posts and rigidly fixed using U-pieces.

Metal sheathing

Frame paneling

After the frame structure is made, you can begin to directly cover the sheathing with decorative elements. First of all, the starting profile is attached to the frame structure slats using a construction stapler and metal staples. Next, the wall panels are mounted one after another, the elements are also fixed using a stapler and brackets. After installing the penultimate decorative panel, the finishing profile is installed, the last slab is cut to the required size and inserted into the finishing profile. The process of cladding the interior walls is over! In conclusion, we suggest watching a short video on the installation of plastic panels for brick walls:

Brick hallway

For any house or apartment, the hallway is considered a kind of business card, because everyone who crosses the threshold will first of all end up here. Equally important is to ensure that the appropriate impression of the visit is formed, because the hallway is the first room to which the attention of visitors is drawn.

Features of “brick” wallpaper and its advantages

Not so long ago they began to produce wallpaper with a decorative layer imitating brick. It should be noted that initially such finishing canvases were not in demand among developers. Consumers were wary of the appearance of the wallpaper, which seemed rough, and believed that imitation brick in the corridor (and not only in it) was not a very beautiful and suitable way of finishing.

But time has proven that there was no need to rush to verdicts. Properly selected brick wallpaper, successfully combined with the elements of the hallway, looks impressive in the interior.

Brick wallpaper has good performance in hallways and other rooms, including rooms with a high moisture content in the air.

They are lightweight and resistant to wear. Thanks to the varied color palette, there is always a suitable material that allows you to decorate a corridor or other room with brick.

There are several varieties:

  • paper - the most budget material. It can be easily glued and does not require the involvement of specialists. The operating period is limited. If you don’t see any problems with annual renovations, then this wallpaper will be an excellent choice for you. Made from the purest cellulose, the material is considered environmentally friendly and safe for the body;
  • non-woven fabrics - in terms of tactile sensations they are compared with the previous analogue, but such fabrics are characterized by strength and resistance to wear. A distinctive feature is the ability to repaint the surface (at least five times). Wallpaper allows air flow to pass through, eliminating the appearance of fungus on the surface;
  • vinyl - it is believed that their period of operation reaches twenty years. The surface of the canvas is embossed, it looks expensive and stylish. During operation, such wallpaper does not cause any difficulties; it can be wiped during cleaning. But there is one drawback - the manufacturing process involves the use of formaldehyde. Despite this, the material is of interest due to the relief of its own structure and increased density, which confirms the resistance of the canvas to wear;
  • acrylic - they have an acceptable cost, last a long time, and have good air permeability. After the renovation, the walls look impressive, as if they were decorated with materials of natural origin;
  • flexible - the densest wallpaper material of all those listed above. The surface is embossed; in the interior of the hallway, brick-like wallpaper creates the impression that in front of you is a wall made of ordinary masonry material. For manufacturing, sandstone or gypsum is used as a base, and fabric functions as a decorative layer.

Masonry or brick wallpaper in the hallway?

I would like to say that a wall built from stone or brick seems much more impressive. And this is the honest truth. Consumers who want to keep up with modern fashion, in most cases, use this material when decorating their homes.

We propose to study the issue by considering certain aspects:

  • real brick in the interior of the hallway, even in minimal quantities, is an expensive and difficult process;
  • not every time architectural and building codes allow the use of brick in the hallway during construction;
  • the time required to build a wall or partition will significantly exceed the time it takes to repair a brick wall in the hallway;
  • Wallpapering is done on your own, but to build a wall from solid materials you will need to resort to the services of a craftsman;
  • Often stone material of natural origin creates additional difficulties in the hallway, which cannot be said about brick wallpaper.

Brick corridor and overall design

As it turned out, finishing the hallway with brick is considered a practical option, quite modern. The fact is that finishing the corridor with brick becomes an appropriate addition to techno, loft, and fusion style solutions. By choosing the wallpaper material wisely and using it correctly, you will get a stylish environment.

The brick hallway design looks neat for the Scandinavian style, but for modern minimalism it will seem very organic.

It should be noted that faux brick wallpaper used in the hallway and other rooms is not limited to classic color shades - red or white. In modern trends, multicolor is allowed in its full manifestation; sometimes certain abstract themes are used, or graffiti-style patterns are imitated. The final option is determined by the purpose of the premises, the taste and preferences of the developer, and the availability of funds.

What to rely on when choosing a finishing material

What you will use to create your brick wall largely depends on the purpose of the room and the characteristics of its microclimate. The hallway, in this regard, is not particularly loyal. Wear-resistant materials that do not react to moisture and can be cleaned should be used here. You don't have to worry about leaning against a wall in wet clothes or regularly rubbing against it when sitting down to put on your shoes on a bench. Taking into account all of the above, we can safely conclude that the ideal solution for decorating the hallway would be natural and clinker bricks, and plastic panels. But foam plastic imitations and wallpaper should be treated with caution. They may not be able to withstand such treatment for long.

Decoratively, tiles with imitation brickwork and a “collapsing edge” effect will look great in the hallway. With the help of such decor, you can create zoning of rooms. This is true when the hallway immediately goes into the kitchen or leads straight into the living room. It is better to decorate a brick wall with original design lamps, alternatively imitating candles.

As for color, it is still better to lean towards a light palette, since the layout of the hallways does not include windows and it is quite dark there.

Today, markets and shops have a wide selection of materials for surface finishing.

Among the entire possible assortment, it is impossible not to notice a brick that is intended for decorative purposes. Previously, such finishing was used only for the facades of houses.

But more recently, designers began to use brick in the hallway.

Its popularity is explained by the fact that this particular material is capable of completely changing the appearance of rooms and fitting into the interiors of almost all rooms.

Thanks to the positive characteristics of brick, you can make a coating that will delight you for many years.

Plastic panels and drywall

These types of wall finishing make it possible to completely eliminate plastering work, and significantly reduce the cost of repairs by reducing its labor intensity and time. Such materials can be used in cases where the surface of the walls is severely deformed, and plastering work can significantly increase the cost of repairs.

Plastic panels are an excellent option for budget cladding, which is distinguished by a variety of textures, colors and shapes. There are several types of plastic panels on the market today:

  • slatted, made according to the lining principle, they are mounted on an aluminum sheathing, which is attached to the uneven surface of the walls;
  • tiled, the installation of which is carried out according to the principle of slatted panels;
  • adhesive, which are the size of plywood sheets and are glued to the surface of the walls using strong adhesives.

By choosing the right types of plastic panels, you can visually increase the size of the room, making the room more spacious and bright, and the ceilings high and smooth.

An excellent and inexpensive option that allows you to create a perfectly flat wall surface without unnecessary labor is plasterboard. They simply cover the walls over the entire area, and then you can apply paint or wallpaper without worrying that the finish will emphasize the unevenness of the walls.

In stores today you can buy various types of drywall:

  • moisture resistant;
  • ordinary;
  • hypofibrous;
  • with insulation and sound insulation;
  • fire resistant;
  • with vinyl front cover.

The choice of the type of drywall depends on the functional purpose of the room in which it will be used.

You won’t have to spend a lot of time on this, and then the same amount of time cleaning the living space from the remnants of the working mixture. If the wall surface is smooth and there are no obvious defects on it, then you can choose wallpaper or paint for finishing. In this case, it will be enough to just clean the surface of the old front layer, putty it with adhesive or putty, and then apply a new front finish.
