Blue curtains
One of the “main” and most often chosen options are blue curtains. It symbolizes calm, tranquility and has a beneficial effect on brain associations.
The atmosphere of relaxation and restful sleep is visually established, so in rooms designed in blue tones, a person begins to feel relaxed and as calm as possible. These tones are perfect for bright rooms that contain furniture in beige, peach and light green shades.
Decoration of a window opening in a classic style
A characteristic feature of the design of curtains for a classic bedroom is the atmosphere of prosperity and peace in the room. This style does not tolerate bright colors and abundance of decor. Restraint and aristocracy are appropriate in the interior of the bedroom.
A reasonable solution would be curtains made of thick fabric with light tulle. Lambrequins, tiebacks with tassels, and eyelets will look good. To sew curtains for a classic bedroom, brocade, velvet, and natural silk are usually used.
When experimenting with choosing curtain colors, you should stick to traditionally neutral shades for this style. Delicate cream and light lilac tones will be a good choice when decorating a space of peace, love and healthy sleep.
In order for the tulle to fall in beautiful folds onto the floor surface, you need to purchase fabric whose width is three times the length of the cornice. When using multi-layer ensembles, you should maintain the harmony of colors and combination with the surface finish of the walls.
Coffee with milk
Such curtains in combination with a light interior can only be called “simple and tasteful.” Ivory, beige, and other light and airy shades can be beautifully combined with modern curtains in the bedroom, the color of coffee with milk.
Minimalism is coming back into fashion, without focusing on small details. Nowadays, accents are more likely to be created with the help of a harmony of shades that are completely different from each other in brightness and saturation, rather than with a large number of useless decorations.
Requirements for curtains for the bedroom
The design of curtains in the bedroom may differ in color component, size, method of fastening and texture.
Also, beautiful curtains for the bedroom can be sewn to order or purchased ready-made, however, the requirements for this interior detail are common to all types:
- Sufficient protection from daylight.
- A good indicator of the porosity of the material to maintain natural air circulation.
- Additional noise protection.
- Resistant to deformation after washing.
Do not forget about the correspondence of the curtains to the general style of the interior in the bedroom. The contrast of color shades should not be too sharp, and the colors used should be close to natural tones.
Curtains in yellow shades
Such a bright and eye-catching color of curtains in the bedroom will not suit every room, and not every person, but it will certainly interest bright and active people.
Blue, purple and other dark tones can be perfectly complemented by curtains the color of pineapple or light lemon. This will add grace and help dispel a dark and austere atmosphere, if that is felt.
For some, such curtains will seem like an option for a child’s bedroom, but by playing with them in a worthy way, adding details, and also balancing the difference in colors, your guests will never have such a thought.
Curtains as room decoration
It is important not only to choose the right curtains for the windows, but also to hang them correctly. Recommendations:
Recommendations:
- In order to visually increase the height of the ceiling (if required), it is recommended to mount them as high as possible. In addition, the gap between the ceiling and the edge of the canvas is reduced. The gap can also be disguised by installing a wall cornice or using a decorative trim.
- When choosing between long and short curtains, it is better to choose the former. Long curtains hide the heating units. However, for ease of cleaning, you should leave a gap of 2–3 cm.
- The length of the cornice should exceed the width of the window so that when open the curtain does not interfere with the access of light.
- When using jewelry and various decorative elements, moderation should be observed.
Peach curtains
A great addition to coffee wallpaper or pearl interiors are peach curtains. However, these are not the only tones that this bedroom curtain design is ideal for: they combine wonderfully with all light interiors and “soften” the association of the room and allow your eyes to rest from bright shades. This delicate color is more suitable for calm and reasonable people than for passionate and impulsive people.
Correct combination of textiles and decoration
It is better if the color of the curtains and bedspreads is identical. And in order to choose the right textiles for furniture, you can use the following table.
Walls | Furniture | Curtains |
white | light | pastel, natural |
beige | light | chocolate or coffee; lilac or violet; dark gray |
beige | dark brown | emerald, burgundy, dark blue |
dark, warm shades | brown | beige, light brown |
light, grayish shades | gray, white | white, gray, pastel, natural shades |
bright, rich | any | match the color of one of the accent walls |
natural | light brown, white | grey, white, beige |
neon | any | match the color of one of the accent walls |
pastel | white | light gray, light beige, pastel |
Mint curtains
Mint-colored curtains will help add a cool shade without making the room feel cold and empty. They add notes of freshness and peace, tenderness and airiness - like weightless clouds enveloping you before bed on a hot summer day.
The mint version of curtains is suitable for light wallpaper and calm interior designs.
Varieties
Today there are many different styles of curtains - from the simplest tulle or veil to complex lambrequins, which sometimes cause difficulties in both correct placement and care.
However, all types can be divided according to the type of opening into:
- sliding;
- lifting;
- stationary.
Sliding
The sliding type involves the movement of the curtains in different directions to the side parts of the window; such curtains are classic and still do not lose their popularity. Only the models, decor, and fabrics used to make them undergo changes.
Types of sliding curtains:
- Straight curtains are the most common model. Here, usually a thin curtain-veil is located in the center, covering the window, and at the edges there are heavier and dense curtains that extend onto the wall. These curtain parts are vertically fixed to the cornice and, if necessary, moved apart in opposite directions. This type can also include triple curtains - this is a new fashion trend in the field of design. To make this model, three layers of canvas are used, successfully combined in color and texture, or vice versa, designed for reasons of contrast.
- Another new word in the design of straight models are the so-called double-sided curtains. The canvas consists of two pieces of fabric, which are sewn with the wrong side to each other. The main emphasis in them is that the side facing the window looks out at different angles, creating an interesting effect.
- Curtains with lambrequins. This is a straight sliding model. It differs only in the addition of a decorative element - a lambrequin. It can be attached as an independent element to the cornice, or be an integral element of the curtain fabric. The lambrequin can have either a rigid structure or soft, flowing flounces made of thin fabric. The choice will depend only on the style of the room and the imagination of its inhabitants.
- Thread curtains, or muslin. An ideal option for zoning space. Such curtains most often represent a cascading waterfall of fairly weighty threads that can bring a touch of freshness and lightness to the room.
Lifting
The second type of curtains is lifting curtains. They are called so due to their specificity. This is a canvas of a fixed size, which, if necessary, rises and falls along the plane of the window. Kinds:
- Roller blinds, which are popular today, belong to this type. They are a perfectly smooth canvas that is rolled into a neat roll. A special mechanism is capable of fixing the material at any height required by the user. In this category, there are both completely light-proof models, which are ideal for the bedroom, and thinner and more transparent options.
- Austrian curtains - this type, when rising, forms beautiful flounces that add romance to the room.
- Roman. This type is made of dense fabric, folding occurs due to slats fixed at equal distances - the curtain folds like an accordion and rises to the top of the window using a thread or chain, which operates the mechanism.
Stationary
Well, the last type is stationary models. Such curtains are tightly fixed to the curtain rod, they are completely unable to move. Most often, this option is used for decorative purposes, so you can create the appearance of the existence of a window when it is not there.
Olive shade
Any austere interior, not devoid of dark tones and bulky sleeping items, can be perfectly complemented with an olive shade. It symbolizes calm, its color does not “scream”, rather, on the contrary, it softens the situation and is the very puzzle that dark rooms lack.

Combination of long curtains with short ones
There is no doubt about the convenience, practicality, and relevance of Roman or roller blinds. But in the bedroom you want special comfort, softness and the ability to isolate yourself from the outside world. A combination of short and long curtains will help maintain balance.
The same solution will help in “difficult” cases, if you need to drape a window with a balcony, decorate a bay window or select curtains for corner windows.
In a duet of curtains and Roman or roller blinds, the main violin will still be played first. The second will have to adjust in color and texture. You can also choose neutral options that will allow you to periodically change classic curtains without compromising the harmonious design.
This combination is ideal if you need to decorate a bay window. It will help preserve the interesting complex geometry of the room, hiding it with curtains only when necessary.
Attention! To create perfect darkness in the bedroom, it is better to use curtains made of blackout fabric. They have additional protection from sunlight. These night curtains will help you sleep soundly.
Austrian curtains combine the convenience of Roman curtains and the pomp of French ones. They can also be raised and lowered using a special mechanism. Folds, puffs and ruffles will not interfere.
Naturally, in a composition with Austrian curtains, all the attention should go to them. Ordinary people will have to be content with the role of the background; for them, only a small decor is acceptable, which will harmonize with the central part, creating a feeling of integrity of the design. They can also cover up all the splendor of the aristocratic curtains when they get a little tired of it.
Modern fashion is very democratic and versatile. This also applies to the design of windows in the bedroom. Even if you act within the framework defined by trends, you can realize any of your ideas.
Purple curtains
Purple color should be added to the bedroom with caution, since many shades of this color are “screaming”, which is extremely inappropriate in a room for complete relaxation.
Purple and lilac shades are not suitable as a set of curtains for the bedroom, but the colors of lilac, violet and lavender will fit perfectly into any bedroom, adding a touch of brightness.
Which fabrics to choose
Modern curtains are made from natural materials. In particular, flax is held in high esteem. It prevents sunlight from entering the room, and in the dark it reliably protects from prying eyes. Linen is perfect for eco-style interiors.
The use of this type of fabric in a “Scandinavian” or “grotesque” type interior is not prohibited. The texture of linen is durable and reliable, it can be washed as many times as you like and the fabric will not lose its shape and color.
Bamboo fiber. It is also a natural, environmentally friendly fabric. Curtains made from it are soft and delicate in texture. Moreover, they are durable and do not deteriorate even after hundreds of washes.
Silk. An equally interesting solution for a lightweight interior, so as not to overload it with bulky curtains. Silk curtains are wear-resistant and environmentally friendly.
In addition, curtains made of mixed fabrics are trending. More often they combine synthetics (polyester, acrylic, nylon) with natural materials. The result is quite durable and aesthetic products that are good in any interior.
Green curtains
Everyone knows that the color green has a positive effect on human associations, and this is not without reason. Green curtains are suitable for bright rooms that want to add color, but at the same time not overdo it with brightness. It puts you in a positive mood and energizes you from the very morning.
Ideal for bedrooms combined with a workplace, as it does not set a person up for complete relaxation.
We decorate the kitchen window with curtains
Curtains for the kitchen in 2022 are made of linen or cotton. Also in trend is the combination of these fabrics with viscose and acrylic. Such materials are durable and of very high quality, since kitchen curtains will have to be washed much more often than those hanging in other rooms.
Asymmetrical curtains with frills in combination with blinds or roller blinds on the windows are good for the kitchen. This is very functional, since curtains alone will not solve the problem of unwanted penetration of bright light during the day and will not protect from prying eyes when it is already dark outside and the lights are on in the house.
Pink and crimson curtains
A curtain color like pink may not match every interior, but with the right accent color placement, you can achieve an excellent result. The main thing in this matter is not to overdo it. In addition to pink or crimson curtains, you can add a few more accents of the same color: for example, in the form of a carpet and a fresh bouquet of flowers. This will add luxury and grandeur to the room without making it look like a nursery.
What colors and motifs to choose
Modern curtains with prints in an urban style, when the window drapery shows a kind of London with its colorful pavements, double-decker buses, exquisite lanterns and buildings.
Nowadays, any pattern and ornament can be repeated graphically on curtains. The choice is up to the buyers.
Plain curtains are also always in trend, especially in 2020. Depending on the style of the room, you can purchase curtains in indigo, rich ocher, dandelion tones, or dark green. The black and white options look especially nice. In this case, the stripes can alternate both horizontally and vertically.
The trend is rich, rich shades that can be combined with delicate sand, beige, and vanilla. By the way, layering has lost its relevance this year.
The use of shiny fabrics is not prohibited. They look very rich in discreet interiors. These are purple, pearl tones of curtains, as well as metallic. They look very beautiful in undertones with orange, red, and purple.
Natural motifs are very fashionable this season. Images of animals, plants, landscapes, as well as pictures made using 3D technology.
Red curtains
Choosing curtains for a modern style bedroom is quite simple. Bright red, burgundy and other passionate colors are ideal for a couple's bedroom as they bring the energy of romance and passion.
It is worth choosing such shades wisely, because for bedrooms that are too dark, such curtain colors are strictly prohibited - they are more likely to negatively affect a person’s emotional background, since the combination of black and red is the most undesirable for bedrooms.
Fashionable colors
Designers advise choosing a color for curtains based on the overall color scheme of your interior. The most fashionable colors of curtains for the bedroom include the following:
- White;
- Beige;
- Green;
- Burgundy;
- Yellow;
- Orange;
- Blue;
- Violet;
- Blue;
- Black;
- Brown.

Plain curtains are a timeless classic, but now designers are suggesting using two colors when decorating a window. Two-tone curtains allow you to visually expand the space and make the room seem larger. In the bedroom, curtains of two harmoniously selected shades, close to each other, look great. Contrasting combinations will irritate the eye and are unlikely to promote sound sleep.
Color combinations are largely determined by the style and design of the room, but you should take note of the following “duets”:
- Beige and dark brown;
- Beige and olive;
- White and light lilac;
- Beige and blue-green;
- Light yellow and dark blue;
- White and blue-gray;
- Orange and dark brown;
- White and ash pink;
- Light blue and sea green;
- Canary yellow and purple.

When working with rich dark colors, it is better to avoid using two colors when decorating curtains.
It is much more correct to choose light, light curtains for the bedroom, which will serve as a fresh note against the background of dark curtains and will attract attention, while at the same time adding harmony to the room
The choice of color is largely determined by the style of the bedroom. So, if the bedroom has a restrained color scheme, the use of flashy colors is not allowed. However, if you want to add color, it is recommended to choose bright curtains, but additionally buy textile decor of a similar color (for example, decorative pillows or a bedspread).
When arranging a bedroom, it is important to focus not so much on fashion as on your own feelings. If the current purple color makes you feel depressed, you should not decorate the window in a similar color scheme
Color is what creates the mood, especially for curtains and curtains.
Pastel shades
Bed colors for curtains can be a neutral option in all aspects. When choosing inexpensive curtains for the bedroom, which, moreover, will not carry any particular load on the human brain, beige, soft gray, and other pastel colors are chosen.

Popular design styles
Currently, minimalist modern styles are the most popular, but do not write off the classic ones:
- High-tech style is characterized by the use of blinds on the windows, but often people add straight floor-length curtains without any decorative elements. In this case, the color scheme is preferably very restrained: gray, white or brown act as the main colors.
- In minimalist interiors, preference is given to light curtains in neutral colors, as functional and discreet as possible. The use of decorative elements and flashy shades is unacceptable here; every detail must have meaning and a functional purpose.
- To decorate windows in Provence style, it is best to choose natural, flowing fabric in a pastel shade. The presence of curtains is welcome, as it will add romance to the interior. Curtains should drape well and look very light and relaxed.
- Art Deco is a style of flashy luxury that is quite popular these days. To decorate a window in this style, purchase curtains made of heavy, expensive fabric in a light shade with multiple gilded trims. Satin, brocade, and velvet are often used to sew curtains. You definitely need to use curtains.
- Beige, cream or brown plain curtains, selected in strict accordance with the surrounding furniture, will fit perfectly into a classic bedroom. Curtains should be luxurious, but strict; the use of decorative elements is minimal.
- Country style involves the use of natural fabrics in natural shades (green, beige, sand). It is typical to use a variety of decorations: ruffles, frills, ribbons and even buttons.
When decorating a window space in an ethnic bedroom, it is important to rely on knowledge about the nationality in whose style the bedroom is decorated. For example, when choosing curtains for an African bedroom, opt for straight floor-length curtains in sand or beige with an ethnic pattern
A bedroom designed in Indian style requires the use of chic heavy curtains or Japanese panels in rich colors, complemented by a beautiful ornate pattern. Scandinavian style is more like a minimalist style and does not accept pretentiousness; here the ideal choice would be discreet white or light gray straight curtains made from natural heavy materials.
Milky curtains
The minimalism of our century is all about simplicity and grace. Ivory, milky, and other airy colors will fit into both bright rooms and bedrooms that are not devoid of dark elements.
Unobtrusive, calm, universal. This is exactly how you can describe this version of curtains. They do not require additional curtains. The only negative is that some of them can let the sun's rays through, but it all depends on the material and its quality.
greedi › Blog › DIY car seat reupholstery
Most tuning workshops do car seat reupholstery. And how many car owners want to try to trim the car interior with their own hands... After all, there are so many interesting things in this task! Any tuning project involving car interior trim requires partial or complete disassembly. This is not always an easy task - there are plenty of tricky fasteners in the car interior. But you can intuitively guess where a piston, self-tapping screw or screw might be hiding under the trim of the car interior. The car seats are bolted through the runners to the floor. To remove the seat with your own hands, just unscrew the four bolts and disconnect the electrical connectors.
01. We took the seat out of the interior and placed it on the table to make it easier to plan the placement of leather and Alcantara fragments on the seat upholstery cover. The sewing workers marked it with a marker and signed each panel of the cover with the name of the material from which it will be cut.
02. Removing the cover from the seat frame requires strong hands. In places where it is divided into fragments (in the corners where the skin panels meet) on the back and “seat”, the cover is pulled to the pillow frames with steel rings. The design of the ties can be different, but in any case the polyurethane of the pillow is very springy and holds the cover.
03. The removed seat upholstery cover goes into the hands of a cutter, a specialist in upholstery of the car interior. The master rips the cover into separate panels - preparing it for transfer to new materials.
04. For example, an Alcantara part planned for upholstering a seat is laid out on the table and pressed against the Alcantara with weights. It is traced along the contour with a gel pen and is marked with short notches along the perimeter to align the flaps. Alcantara, like leather, can be easily cut with tailor's scissors.
There is one very important task in the process of cutting Alcantara car interior trim parts. Alcantara is similar to suede and has a short pile. This pile is directed in one direction. Can you guess that the direction of the pile needs to be taken into account when cutting? An error in the direction of the pile will appear as a difference in the shade and tone of the jamb piece.
05. Upholstery of seats and some other parts of the car interior trim cannot be done without reinforcing the leather and Alcantara with fabric-based foam. The cut out leather and Alcantara parts of the seat covers are glued to the foam rubber (from the foam rubber side, not the fabric side) using glue in a spray can. You cannot spread foam rubber for upholstering seats with a brush - you can ruin the part with your own hands: the glue goes deep into the pores and, when squeezed, glues the internal structure of the foam rubber together. Simply put, the foam will not return to its original position.
06. The panels of the seat cover glued to the foam rubber are sewn together. When stitching, you need to carefully align the marks on the edges of the parts.
07. The next operation is gluing the seam flaps spread to the sides on the wrong side of the seat upholstery covers. The question is – what to glue to what? First, we cut off the strips of foam rubber that remained near the lapels in order to clean the Alcantara and leather lapels for gluing. Then, we spread the leather and Alcantara flaps to the sides and press them against the foam rubber. An important point in car interior trim is beating the seams of Alcantara and leather onto foam rubber. Press the seams with a regular hammer.
08. Now the lapels are sewn with a double finishing stitch. The free edges behind the stitching thread are not cut off - this will not be noticeable under the foam rubber. You can trim the edges with your own hands along the edge of the cover part.
09. The sewn seat upholstery cover is turned right side out and straightened out. Stretch and secure the cover on the seat frame is not an easy task. Especially the back cover - it has a closed shape and you have to work in cramped conditions.
10. The “seat” cover of the seat upholstery also has its problems. First, the cover is laid out on the seat cushion, and then it needs to be pulled to the frame. Plastic clamps are used to tighten the seat cover in the middle. The clamps are threaded through the pillow into special holes in the same way as on the original design. On the cover, the clamp clings to a knitting needle, covered with fabric and sewn to the cover from the inside out. The edges of the cover are stretched onto the seat frame along the contour. At the back there is an original plastic bracket sewn to the cover (torn off from the original seat), at the sides and at the front for the notches in the seat frame.
11. Car interior trim always ends with drying and steaming of overstretched parts. The seat upholstery covers are heated with a stream of hot air from a hairdryer - the leather, as it dries, stretches like a drum. All seats are ironed with steam using a cloth. After these procedures, the seat upholstery becomes absolutely smooth, as if made of hard material. I think that everyone can do these operations with their own hands.
12. Yes, steaming is not everything! Car interior trim must be cleaned after reupholstery. Especially light-colored leather and Alcantara. There are fingerprints, glue stains, abrasions on our seats... The master washes off traces of seat reupholstery using special detergents. By the way, leather and Alcantara are perfectly cleaned, even from heavy dirt.
13. Before installation in the car, the seats are completely assembled. False panels, drawers, lids, levers are screwed, clicked and cling to the seat frames. This is where the upholstery of the car interior, namely the seat reupholstery, ends.
09. The sewn seat upholstery cover is turned right side out and straightened out. Stretch and secure the cover on the seat frame is not an easy task. Especially the back cover - it has a closed shape and you have to work in cramped conditions.
Various designs and prints
To maintain the spring-summer mood at any time of the year, they often resort to a modern solution - non-plain curtains. Patterns on curtains in the form of blossoming flower buds are suitable for both modern bedrooms and for maintaining the classic style of rooms.
In addition to flowers, the curtains can also contain other designs, ranging from towers to views of another city.
Types of cornices
Window design work includes the selection of fasteners, which also affect the overall perception of space. The designer has the following options for cornices:
- ceiling, which allows you to completely close the wall and make the ceiling visually higher;
- baguette, hiding defects in the wall or ceiling;
- tubular, allowing you to place one- or two-row curtain compositions;
- profile, including several elements fastened together, which is suitable for lovers of non-standard solutions in the interior;
- forged, designed for curtains made of heavy and bulky material.
Therefore, when determining fasteners, you need to focus on the height of the ceiling, the size of the window, the type and weight of curtains.
Multicolor curtains
Curtains of different colors can become an original design for a bedroom. Curtains with prints are often added to them. The main point here is the favorable combination of colors and patterns. It is important to choose - you need a harmonious combination of them or a bright and catchy contrast of colors.
In any case, they must fit into the overall look of the bedroom. Select shades based on the color of the walls and bedroom furniture, then add this variety in the form of colored curtains, then select bedding that matches the curtains. This sequence is best suited for this type of curtains.
Choosing curtains may seem like a simple task that does not require long and detailed consideration, but every designer can refute such an idea by proving how important their presence is and how dramatically they influence the decor as a whole. By choosing the type of curtains you need, you can succinctly dilute the colors of the bedroom interior or, on the contrary, add brightness and variety.
Choice of colors
Particular attention is paid to the selection of textiles for the bedroom. The overall appearance of the room depends on these elements. Curtains should be in harmony with the decor. For a room of modest dimensions, light materials in pastel colors are purchased. They will make the bedroom more comfortable and will be a wonderful interior decoration. You can complement them with a bright lambrequin, tiebacks, and fringe. Models made from several fabrics look impressive.
If the room is decorated in soothing colors, then choose unusual models. Fashionable curtains for the bedroom with ornaments are bought if the walls have plain wallpaper. Products with an interesting print will add extravagance to the room. They are chosen by people who are not afraid to experiment.

In modern interiors, a contrasting combination of curtains and walls is used. This method allows you to achieve interesting effects. It is important to consider the degree of illumination of the bedroom when choosing. For windows facing the sunny side, choose cool shades of textiles. Warm colors are suitable for dimly lit spaces.
Curtains not only decorate the space, they protect it from the sun and prying glances from the street. Today, owners of apartments and country real estate prefer blackout canvas. These light-proof products will reliably protect from light and create a comfortable environment for relaxation day and night.

Linen
Linen curtains have a number of undoubted advantages:
- do not interfere with the flow of fresh air into the apartment;
- “mute” sunlight;
- are a clean material from an environmental point of view;
- do not collect dust on their surface.
The material is used both in the traditional form for curtains and in the manufacture of roller blinds, Roman blinds, or vertical blinds.
Fashion trends 2022
In the new season, designers recommend sticking to minimalist solutions when choosing curtains. Pompous curtains with complex designs are replaced with more laconic ones, without unnecessary draperies and ruffles. At the peak of popularity are Japanese, Austrian, Roman and Scandinavian styles.
As for texture, it is preferable to choose natural fabrics. However, it is important to select new curtains for the bedroom, based on the overall style of the room and the level of lighting.
