Nowadays every home has a TV, and in most cases not just one. For some, this attribute is simply irreplaceable, while others use it much less often.
In this article we will take a closer look at the topic of proper selection and installation of a TV in the bedroom.
This task is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. There are many different factors to consider here.
Modern TV models, due to their shape, appearance and size, act not only as television signal receivers, but also as decoration for the room.
Plasma technology easily fits into a modern interior and complements it. Flat screen TVs in the bedroom on the wall make the room more modern.
With the help of design ideas, a plasma TV, which was created with the latest technology, can be successfully adapted to a retro style, frame the TV in a picture frame or disguise it in any other way, for example, installing a cabinet with a TV in the bedroom.

It is worth noting that experts do not recommend installing a TV in the bedroom if the people living in the house have problems sleeping. It is also not recommended to spend a lot of time watching TV.
If the bedroom is small, it is best to refrain from installing a TV altogether, because a large number of devices, especially in a small space, negatively affects the quality of sleep and rest.
Recommendations for placement in the bedroom
Some basic tips:
- It is believed that the most convenient height from the floor for placing a TV should be at least 1 meter.
- The optimal location point for this device can be determined by visually drawing a straight line from the center of the bed towards the wall.
- It is not advisable to hang or place the TV model in front of a window, as glare and sunlight will interfere with viewing and negatively affect the screen of this equipment.
- According to Feng Shui, it is believed that a TV in a bedroom located in an apartment or house is not appropriate, since its noise disturbs the energy of peace and interferes with restful sleep, but if you still decide to hang it in this room, then the western wall will be the ideal place .
Drywall marking
First you need to take measurements of the TV itself, and then make the appropriate markings on the plasterboard wall. The markings should be larger than the dimensions of the device by about 10 centimeters in each direction. This is necessary for more comfortable and quick installation, as well as simple maintenance later.
Sample sketch
This free space is also necessary to provide ventilation to the back of the TV, which should not overheat.
Calculations of a niche for a TV
These are the main rules; as for all other issues regarding the dimensions or design of a niche, here you can give free rein to your imagination. The only thing you have to do is purchase a building level. The fact is that this operation requires strict adherence to the horizontality of all lines, so it is impossible to do without this product.

Placement methods
Several location options:
- On the bracket. This method allows you to save space, freeing it from bulky TV furniture. A television model on a stationary or rotating bracket is a very practical and stylish interior solution.
- Retractable. A retractable hidden panel with remote control, built into a bedside table, closet or other place suitable for concealment, provides the opportunity to give the room a more noble appearance and create an aesthetic, functional, convenient and easily implemented design.
- Place on furniture. A TV system, located on a chest of drawers, a cabinet or special cabinet furniture, provides an excellent option for compact arrangement and storage of various discs, books, magazines, stereo system elements, multimedia equipment or other necessary little things.

Nuances of fastening to suspended and suspended ceilings
You cannot mount anything to the decorative surface; it will not withstand the load. With tension, suspended and other frame structures, you need to get to the rough floor and attach the holder to the concrete slab through the sheathing.
If the ceiling is cassette, it is enough to remove one module. After installation, it is installed back, making a neat cutout for the bracket post. The gap between the rod and the casing will be small; if desired, it can be sealed with silicone sealant.
In the case of a suspended or plasterboard ceiling in the decorative finish, you will have to make a cutout no smaller than the mounting plate. As a result, a large gap will remain, which will be difficult to decorate with anything. Of course, you can carefully remove one sheet of drywall or partially dismantle the tension fabric in order to cut a small hole just for the rod and then install it back, but this is very labor-intensive. This should be planned at the stage of ceiling installation.
There is an easier way. Small holes are made in the finishing only for bolts. For fastening, long screws are used that pass through the suspended ceiling and are screwed into the concrete floor. For rigidity, a piece of polypropylene water pipe is put on them, equal to the height of the interceiling space. If a tension sheet is installed, first stick on the tread ring, and then cut a hole inside, otherwise the film may come apart.
Important! The distance from the TV to the ceiling will be less by the height of the trim; this must be taken into account when choosing the length of the bracket.
Where to place the TV in the bedroom?
The most commonly used locations for placement.
Built-in cabinet
Models built into a wardrobe or other convenient and functional structures fit harmoniously into the overall design, while providing a convenient place to store things.
On the wall
Wall mounting is considered the most classic option, which allows you to significantly save space in the room.
- Near the window. A wall between the windows can be an excellent solution for a TV area. Compact models do not require much space and fit perfectly on the wall or on a small table.
- In the corner. A free corner in the room can be used to its maximum functionality using a TV. In addition, this arrangement optimizes space and becomes an interesting stylistic solution.
- In a niche. This placement forms a competent design of the TV area, due to which it is possible to rationalize the space and create a single and integral composition.

A well-designed television seat is a very important interior detail, which becomes the accent of the entire room and undoubtedly deserves attention.

In the partition
The partition allows you not only to zone the space, while maintaining its proportions, but also to create a convenient place for the TV, which gives the bedroom a more advantageous and thoughtful look.
On the ceiling
With the help of such a solution, an excellent opportunity is provided to rationally use the usable area, unload the space, not disturb its ergonomics and change the usual view of the stylization of bedrooms.
Stages of arranging a niche
Once you have figured out all the details, you should start installing plasterboard niches for the TV with your own hands. This procedure does not require extensive experience in the construction industry or high qualifications, so it is better to do everything yourself and thus save money on calling a specialist.
The main thing is to approach the procedure with full responsibility and follow the installation rules, which we will present below. It should be noted that the size of the TV being installed is absolutely unimportant; it is important to make the correct markings.

TV wall design
A well-designed wall will complement and harmonize the interior, giving it uniqueness and completeness.
Bedroom with fireplace
Two leading interior elements, such as a fireplace and a TV, should look as equally as possible in the room and organically complement each other. The right color, stylistic solution and placement will help create a truly ideal tandem.
Moldings
Thanks to moldings, which have high decorative functions, you can elegantly decorate walls and highlight and highlight the TV area in an original way, thereby transforming the decor and giving it a completely new look.

Shelves
With the help of shelves with various objects in the form of small vases, flowers or books, it is possible to dilute the faceless and monotonous interior and make it more dynamic, more functional and much more comfortable.
Standard installation instructions for ceiling bracket-rod
To work you will need:
- hammer drill or impact drill;
- screwdriver or screwdriver;
- construction bubble level;
- fasteners (included with the bracket);
- drill of suitable diameter.
The mounting plate is applied to the ceiling and the location of the holes is marked. The concrete is drilled to a depth of at least 5-6 cm. Dowels are inserted. The base of the bracket is put back and screwed, but not all the way.
You need to level the plate horizontally, for which you use a bubble level. You may need to place a couple of cardboard spacers under the base. After this, the fasteners are tightened to the end. Then the bracket stand and platform for mounting the TV are assembled. Additionally, it is recommended to check the vertical position of the rod using a plumb line. The platform is screwed to the TV, and then attached to the stand.
When the entire structure is assembled, adjust the position of the screen. This completes the installation.
Note! For some brackets, you must first assemble the stand and then attach it to the ceiling. Therefore, before installation, you should look at the installation instructions that are included in the kit, since each model may have its own nuances.
For heavy holders and TVs, instead of standard dowels, a more reliable option is used - anchor bolts and chemical anchors.
The first type of fastening is a metal stud with a sleeve and a threaded bushing, which, when tightened, reliably fixes the bolt in place. A chemical anchor is a high-strength polymer adhesive; the composition is placed in the hole, and after screwing in the fastener, it hardens, forming a strong adhesion to the surface.
Photos of interiors in various styles
Using TV in bedrooms in popular style directions.
Modern
The TV area can be decorated with expensive furniture with inlay, or the wall can be decorated with elegant drawings, frescoes or stucco. The television device must have a well-thought-out arrangement and harmoniously combine with all elements of the Art Nouveau style.
Classical
For this area, which has an expensive and sophisticated ambience, it is especially difficult to choose modern TV panels. In order not to disturb the overall style of the room, you can decorate the screen with baguettes and thereby turn it into a picture or hide the TV in a special cabinet; such a design will look especially harmonious and attractive. It is advisable to place the TV model symmetrically and in the middle of the room; this will add even more balance and aesthetic appeal to the environment.
Provence
A television screen framed in a wooden frame, a plasma TV placed in a niche, or simply a model with a body that matches the color scheme of the entire interior will be the most appropriate decor for the Provençal style and will not violate the integrity of the design.

Modern
Plasma thin panel is the key point of designing a modern style trend. TVs placed in a niche, on the wall, on the ceiling or in any other open space would be equally appropriate here.
Loft
This style does not involve any disguise of this device; on the contrary, the TV zone can be highlighted, for example, with neon lighting. TV models with an adjustable bracket, which can be fixed in any convenient place, are also perfect.
Minimalism
A light and laconic plasma panel will allow you to create a clear composition and advantageously emphasize the lines and geometric shapes of the minimalist style.
How to make a ceiling bracket for a TV with your own hands
There are several ways to make homemade mounts. The plasma can be hung on a rigid or flexible holder (for example, on cables or chains). Let's consider one of the options for making a simple ceiling bracket.
To work you will need:
- 2 construction studs M10 or M12;
- 2 brass drive-in anchors (collet);
- 6 nuts;
- 2 chrome pipes slightly larger than the diameter of the stud;
- 4 metal corners.
The studs are fixed to the ceiling with anchors in a vertical position. The distance between them is selected depending on the location of the mounts on the TV body. This is the basis for the future design.
For aesthetics, pipe sections are placed on the studs, and corners are fixed under them. The second pair is screwed below in accordance with the distance between the holes on the TV body. Then the TV is attached to the corners.
Attention! If you install larger corners on top, then the screen will have a slight slope down towards the audience.
For other options for homemade fastenings (on chains, pipes, etc.), see the video.
Examples for a small bedroom
Since large models look very bulky and overload the room, compact screens located on the wall or hidden in a closet would be appropriate for a small bedroom.
Design ideas for a children's bedroom
For modern children's rooms, medium-sized TV devices with convenient and safe wall placement are often used.

Finishing
The remaining processes involve finishing surfaces and cladding the installed plasterboard structure. To do this you need:
Puttying a TV niche from GLK
- apply putty to the joints, then stick sickle tape;
- treat all surfaces without exception with a primer;
- level all surfaces with putty;
- sand the surfaces;
- apply the primer a second time;
- application of paints and varnishes as a cladding option.

Which TV to choose: tips and recommendations from designers
Nuances to choose from:
- The choice of model and color will depend on the overall style of the room.
- The size of the TV is also determined by the dimensions of the room; the larger the diagonal in inches, the further the device should be located from the eyes so as not to harm vision.
- You should carefully consider the distance of the outlets; ease of use will depend on this.
About sizes
The depth of the niche for the TV is one of the most important parameters that must be taken into account even before you design a niche for the TV. The dimensions of the niche should be at least 100 millimeters larger in each direction. This way you can achieve an enhanced visual effect, plus it’s better to install the TV on a wide surface. This also applies to niches for speakers, which should be larger than the devices themselves, and the niches themselves should not be very close to the TV.
