It is possible to lay all the walls in a bathroom or toilet with tiles, but often designers and apartment owners choose a combination of materials: tiles and paint, or tiles and wallpaper. Which tones to choose: light or dark
Of course, for small bathrooms, light colors are a priority, as they help visually expand the space and create additional lighting. But not everyone likes this option. But don’t despair, dark bathrooms with all sorts of shades of gray are now trending. Don’t be afraid of the gloominess of such a room, choose fittings and accessories in white and red and play with the contrasts. If you listen to the designer’s advice and choose the right tones, then even dark colors will not narrow the space.

Selecting wallpaper color
Using wallpaper in a damp room always involves a combination with plaster or tiles, so it is important to correctly combine these types of finishes in color and texture.
- Wallpaper in a bathroom design should be combined with the overall style; from the color palette, you should pay attention to shades of blue and green, which create the effect of purity.
- In small bathrooms, it is better to avoid deep shades of red, blue and black.
- Beige and nude shades are suitable for a classic style; for high-tech, white glass wallpaper is suitable; for Provence, with a small floral print or vertical stripes.
- For medium-sized and large-sized rooms, yellow and orange colors are suitable, which will bring energy and light (in a small bathroom, you can limit yourself to bright objects against pastel walls).
3D or photo wallpaper should occupy the entire wall and should not be interfered with by shelves, pipes and other equipment. If dimensions do not allow, then let it be a small painting or two-part panel paintings.
Humidity zones: where can you glue wallpaper?
In order for the wallpaper in your bathroom to serve you as long as possible, you should know the places where you are allowed to glue wallpaper.
The first such place is the wall opposite the bathroom. Splashes and steam rarely reach there. Also, the space further than half a meter from the shower stall or bath is not exposed to moisture. It is also worth noting that ordinary paper wallpaper is completely unsuitable for the bathroom, since it does not tolerate rooms with high humidity and will peel off the walls without lasting even a year.

The key conditions for using wallpaper in the bathroom are high-quality ventilation and regular airing (if the room has a window, even better). Before gluing you must:
- make sure that the batch number, shade and patterns on all rolls match,
- prepare a special waterproof glue with an antifungal effect,
- clean and level the surface of the walls, sanding cracks and glossy areas,
- treat the walls with an anti-mold primer for wallpaper in 1-2 layers.
Tip: in areas near wet areas, it is advisable to apply additional glue to the wallpaper.

Care Tips
After the wallpaper has completely dried, you can coat it with a special clear varnish to enhance protection against moisture, heat and stains. It comes in both matte and glossy finishes.
A bathroom with wallpaper needs good ventilation.
When taking a shower, it is advisable to turn on the fan in the bathroom so that steam and moisture do not settle on the wallpaper. You can leave the windows or bathroom door slightly open during and after bathing. Remove dust and dirt from the wallpaper weekly or every two weeks using a soft, slightly damp cloth or sponge .
Tip: To clean wallpaper, prepare a solution of two tablespoons of dishwashing detergent and three glasses of warm water.
Do not forget to periodically clean the wallpaper from dust and dirt.
