Curtains for the kitchen: 100 best photo ideas, new items, design tips

Features of curtains for the kitchen

Curtains in the kitchen are not only responsible for comfort. With the help of a certain style and color of window curtains, you can correct some shortcomings - for example, make a small kitchen visually more spacious with the help of simple, airy tulle, or visually raise a low ceiling due to vertical drapery.

Simple, discreet curtains make a small kitchen visually larger and lighter, while multi-layer curtains, on the contrary, make the interior heavier.

Other important factors in choosing a curtain style include:

  • interior style;
  • the presence or absence of a balcony door;
  • headset layout;
  • plate location;
  • purpose of the room (kitchen, kitchen-living room, kitchen-dining room, studio);
  • degree of natural light.

Taking into account the above, let's see which style is better to choose.

Short or long?

Short curtains are the most preferable option for the kitchen in most cases. They are practical, safe in close proximity to the stove and are the only possible solution when there is a work surface or dining area under the window.

Short curtains can be light, translucent or thick, completely blocking light. Short tulle or thin cotton curtains are suitable for interiors in a romantic or rustic style - country, Provence, shabby chic, etc.

What is shabby chic and how to apply it in the kitchen, you will learn from our article.

Despite all the practicality of short curtains, there are cases when it is better to give preference to long curtains and drapes. We will consider such cases in detail below.

  • If the kitchen is combined with the living room or dining room. To decorate a window in the living or dining area, it is better to choose curtains. They can be combined with curtains, roller blinds or Roman blinds.
  • If you need to hide an ugly plastic balcony door.

What type of curtains should I choose?

The more styles there are on the market, the more difficult it can be to choose the right model. Let's try to figure out which types of curtains are best suited for the kitchen, and which products are more prudent to leave for living rooms.

Curtains

A heavy, luxurious canvas made of dense material is not the most practical choice for a room where food is prepared and eaten. If the entire apartment is designed in baroque, art deco or classic style, it is more appropriate to use French curtains rather than massive canvases. Curtains are difficult to care for, and fabric folds actively collect dust.

Tulle or curtains

The most common solution to make the dining area feel cozy and lived-in. Tulle perfectly hides the kitchen from prying eyes and does not interfere with the penetration of natural light, and well-chosen curtains favorably emphasize the interior design.

Roman curtains

Picturesque products suitable for both laconic and sophisticated settings. They have uniform folds and are attached to the window opening, covering its upper part and leaving the window sill free. To wash the fabric, you need to remove it from the lifting mechanism.

Look at examples of kitchen window design.

Blinds

They consist of many narrow or several wide lamellas that change their position with one turn. When closed, they provide good protection from the sun. Made from plastic or fabric that does not absorb dirt, so they are easy to clean.

We wrote in a separate article how best to decorate a window using blinds.

The photo shows practical horizontal blinds that fit perfectly into modern style.

Roller blinds

Mobile, functional curtains for the kitchen that fit perfectly into a minimalist style and can be easily adjusted. When twisted, they form a roll of fabric that does not take up much space. They can be mounted above the window opening or on the sash.

See more information about rolls here.

Filament curtains

They perform a decorative function, as they do not protect from the sun. Airy thread curtains look exclusive, decorate the kitchen and give room for imagination, but some models can visually overload the room. The undoubted advantage of such unusual products is that the threads optically lengthen the room, as if lifting the ceiling.

Types of kitchen curtains

Regardless of the length and type of fabric, the following types of curtains will look advantageous in the kitchen:

On the eyelets

The peculiarity of this type of curtain is its neat, even folds, which are formed thanks to the rings sewn into the fabric. They slide easily along the eaves, so they are one of the most successful solutions for a kitchen with a balcony door.

Curtains with eyelets are suitable for most modern styles - minimalism, scandi, modern classics, loft.

Curtains-cafe

Light and airy cafe curtains are an ideal solution for a country or Provence style kitchen.

You can sew them yourself. They are easily attached to a small cornice or directly to the sash using a stretched fishing line or rope.

Stained glass

One of the variations of cafe curtains in the design of romantic kitchens with rustic motifs is stained glass curtains, which are also called “hourglass” because of the way they are assembled.

They are mounted on a frame, so it is convenient to ventilate the room with them. They can frame both a window sash and an entire door.

Such curtains can overlap with the design of display cabinets and buffets.

With lambrequins

Lambrequin sets a romantic mood and is suitable for kitchens in a rustic or classic style.

This is just a decorative element that will give the interior an elegant look. Traditionally it is combined with tulle, but this option is not so relevant today. A single lambrequin, beautifully framing a window or doorway, can also look interesting.

Rolled

Roller blinds most often do not have a decorative function, although sometimes brightly colored or printed curtains can stand out in the interior. It's best to use them as a background.

Curtains or drapes in combination with roller ones can take on a decorative role.

Roller blinds can act as an alternative to a “bare” window without curtains, when curtains cannot be completely abandoned for various reasons - bright light during the day or the views of passers-by. For ascetic interiors in the spirit of minimalism, Scandinavian style or high-tech, this style is one of the most successful solutions.

Roman

It is not for nothing that this style is considered the most popular. After all, it is the most versatile among other types. Depending on the color scheme, Roman blinds can harmoniously fit into both classic and modern interiors.

Roman curtains, like roller curtains, can be combined with long curtains.

Blinds

The main advantage of blinds is easy maintenance. They can be washed in the bathroom or, without removing, wiped with a damp cloth.

The main disadvantage of blinds is their narrow stylistic focus. They give the interior a strict and office look. Therefore, for those who prioritize comfort, this option is not suitable. And in minimalism and hi-tech styles, blinds will be quite appropriate.

Pleated curtains

Something between blinds, roller blinds and Roman blinds. But, unlike previous options, the flexible lifting mechanism for pleated curtains is simpler and more enjoyable to operate. To fix them at the desired level, it is enough to smoothly pull down or push the blade up with one hand.

Curtains

Curtains are not appropriate in a small kitchen, but in a spacious kitchen-dining room, kitchen-living room or studio they may be necessary both for decorative purposes and to completely darken the recreation area.

Today, curtains without the usual tulle are relevant. Alone, like lambrequins, they can cope with their role perfectly.

For information on the basic principles of choosing curtains for any room, watch the video from the designer:

Roman

These are some of the most popular window decoration options today. They will fit perfectly into interiors of any style, distinguished by their beauty and ease of use.

If you are looking for an option that will fit perfectly into your design, do not pass by Roman blinds.

Based on them, you can create a rather original modern interior. True connoisseurs of elegance and beauty will certainly appreciate them.

Aesthetics is an indisputable fact, but this is far from the only thing that attracts the attention of modern consumers and designers.

The enviable functionality cannot be overlooked. By raising or lowering a special mechanism, you can adjust the light level.

They are also quite easy to care for. To wash, simply remove them from the curtain rod, remove the weight strips, and throw the fabric itself into the washing machine, choosing the optimal temperature and speed based on the type of fabric.

To avoid streaks on the fabric, we recommend using liquid powders and additional rinsing. They dry flat. It is best to iron slightly damp material. Roman blinds go well with classic straight curtains. For example, take a look at these photos.

Patterns, abstraction, floral motifs, checks, stripes, and stains are acceptable. Models with embroidery look elegant and fit perfectly into elegant classic kitchen interiors.

The choice of materials is also striking in its variety, ranging from light weightless chiffon, tulle, and ending with massive heavy curtains.

Choice of color and pattern

Curtains can either enliven a monochrome and boring interior or ruin the overall impression. Therefore, it is important to guess not only with the style, but also with the color scheme, design or pattern. We will discuss in detail below what to combine textiles with and when you can use curtains as an accent.

To match the furniture

To establish color balance in the interior, textiles can be combined with furniture. For example, with the upholstery of kitchen chairs, armchairs or sofas in the kitchen-living room, or with the facades of the furniture.

You should not choose curtains that match the color of the furniture. Select one thing. If the curtains act as a color addition rather than an accent, then let them be a little paler.

To combine textiles with furniture in the overall design, choose curtains with an unobtrusive pattern with a single splash of color.

To match the walls

If the interior is already saturated with bright and active elements, then colored curtains in a rich shade will be superfluous.

In this case, it is better to choose neutral options to match the walls, which will blend into the overall design.

As an accent

Bright curtains or curtains with an active print will set the mood for a monochrome interior.

To ensure that textiles fit organically into the overall decor, support the pattern or color with other small details in small quantities - pillows on chairs, pillowcases and other decor.

Bright curtains in the kitchen without upper cabinets.

You can choose an existing color in the interior as an accent color and enhance its richness in the curtains.

A pattern or design can “collect” the entire color scheme of the interior and combine its multi-colored elements, while the print itself will make the decor more interesting. In other items, you can completely repeat the pattern or only individual motifs.

How to choose curtains by color?

One of the main rules for creating a stylish interior is a harmonious combination of shades in relation to each other. Designers recommend using ready-made diagrams to simplify your task and understand the principles of choosing curtain colors.

In a monochromatic combination, shades of the same color are used, but of different saturation. Pastel colors can serve as a backdrop for the kitchen, while curtains with brighter colors can become an accent.

With a complementary approach, opposite colors are combined to create a contrasting duet.

In a similar combination, shades located adjacent to each other on the color wheel are used. A multi-colored interior looks advantageous, since the tones smoothly transition from one to another.

Let's look at the most popular color selections of curtains for kitchen interiors.

Today, the most popular color for modern kitchens is white, as it is a universal background for any color accents. For a white kitchen, both warm and cold tones are appropriate - the main thing is that the color of the curtains echoes other elements of the decor. Colored curtains are especially relevant in a room located on the north, shady side.

The photo shows transparent tulle, making the bright kitchen with panoramic windows more comfortable.

A dark interior does not provide many options for decor. When decorating a window in a brown kitchen, the main goal is to lighten the impression of a dark set. We recommend hanging light translucent fabrics in beige, white and blue tones.

The photo shows a kitchen with curtains decorated with lace, in a country style.

When decorating a window opening in an elegant and discreet beige interior, you need to decide whether we are creating a gentle, enveloping environment or want to enliven the kitchen with curtains in bright colors. In the first case, cream, milk and coffee tones are suitable, and in the second - blue, orange and yellow.

When selecting textiles for a kitchen with an abundance of wood textures, it is recommended to use plain curtains without patterns. Wooden furniture attracts the eye, so curtains should set it off or highlight the natural texture with color. Green textiles will support the theme of nature, beige and white will soften the influence of dark shades.

Gray is another universal color that goes well with most shades. But the darker the walls, the lighter the textiles should be, and vice versa. To create a calm environment, white and sand tones are ideal, and for a more saturated interior – red, yellow and blue.

In the photo, the panoramic kitchen windows are decorated with white thick curtains with large ornaments.

The orange color is a decoration in itself, attracting attention and adding color to the room. If part of the kitchen set is made in orange tones, it is logical to additionally support this color with textiles in brown, cream and white tones.

Fashion trends in curtain design

Fashion for interiors keeps pace with fashion for textiles. Interior exhibitions and works by famous designers set trends that are later reflected in the showrooms' offer. Let's see what current ideas have replaced outdated solutions.

  • Matte

One should distinguish between the noble and unobtrusive shine of rich and dense curtain fabrics (satin, velor, etc.) and cheap, thin curtains. Tulle that glares in the sun will make the interior look cheaper.

  • Conciseness

Better bright and monochromatic than colorful with a pattern. Prints are difficult to work with, and in such a small space as a kitchen, there is always a risk of overloading the interior with a complex pattern or design.

  • Carelessness, eclecticism and bold combinations

Curtains can match the color of furniture or decor, but an exact match of shades is no longer necessary. You can and should play with different intensities.

  • Current fabrics : for curtains - linen and cotton, for curtains - velvet, velor, satin.

  • Roll and Roman - relevant for all times. From a fashion point of view, these are perhaps the most win-win and “eternal” styles. Only the fashion for colors and patterns can change.

The current colors and shades of 2022 are earthy, amber-orange, classic blue, the whole palette of sand shades, yellow-green, gray-green, peach, olive, red clay color.

Blinds

Perhaps the most laconic way to design a window opening. Blinds will fit perfectly into all modern styles. They will reliably protect the kitchen from the scorching sun, without making the room heavier and taking up virtually no space in it. Blinds are also good because they can serve for a very long time, they are simple to operate, and easy to care for.

Blinds can be bamboo, plastic, wood, they are also made from multi-textured materials and fabrics. As a rule, the dimensions of such a structure coincide with the dimensions of the window opening.

To add originality to the interior, you should choose blinds with a pattern or photo printing.

Popular fabrics

Many different types of fabrics are used to make curtains, but not all are suitable for the kitchen. Kitchen curtains need to be washed more often, so ideally the material should be durable enough to withstand multiple washes.

If the curtains are located in close proximity to the work area and stove, then the fabric should have dirt-repellent properties and low hygroscopicity. It is from this material that most roller blinds and Roman blinds are made - namely, polyester.

Expert advice

Elena Vasilyeva

interior designer

Polyester is a durable, synthetic fabric that is ideal for sewing Roman blinds and roller blinds, as it holds its shape well, does not absorb fat and moisture well, and does not fade. Curtains made of polyester with special impregnations can be wiped with a damp cloth.

To decorate a window in the kitchen-living room that is not adjacent to the hob, you can choose lighter and airier fabrics.

Linen curtains in the kitchen

A short guide to choosing fabric depending on the interior style is given in the table below.

ClassicProvence and countryModern
For curtains: organza, tulle, voile, taffeta
For curtains: jacquard, tapestry, velvet, velor, chenille, brocade
For curtains: linen, cotton, chintz
For curtains:

For curtains: tapestry, matting

For curtains: linen, polycotton, polyester, acrylic
For curtains: blackout, matting

Despite the fashion for using natural fabrics, one cannot completely abandon synthetics, since it is synthetic fiber that gives the material the required strength and wear resistance so that the curtains can withstand many washes and maintain a presentable appearance for as long as possible. Natural cotton fades quickly and quickly becomes unusable after repeated washings, but polycotton is an excellent alternative to its natural counterpart. Thanks to the addition of polyester, the fabric wrinkles less, does not shrink and becomes more durable.

Expert advice

Elena Vasilyeva

interior designer

A fabric such as blackout, which is used for sewing curtains, Roman and roller blinds, and pleated curtains in different styles, deserves special attention. Thanks to the special weave of the threads, the fabric completely blocks light. Blackout can imitate the texture of linen, cotton and other fabrics, while it is devoid of many of the disadvantages of natural analogues.

Which material is better to choose?

Due to the purpose of the kitchen, especially if there is a lot of cooking in it, the furniture and decoration should be practical, easy to clean and not absorb odors. The same applies to textiles: if they are curtains made of fabric, you should choose a material that is easy to wash and resistant to stains.

Natural fabrics are more environmentally friendly than synthetic ones, but they have their drawbacks.

  • Cotton holds its shape well and retains color after washing, but quickly fades in the sun and offers almost no protection from light.
  • Linen is durable and noble, but has a high cost, fades in sunlight and wrinkles easily.
  • Products made of silk and wool are contraindicated in the kitchen, as they quickly absorb dirt and grease, and they must be washed with extreme care.

The photo shows the kitchen and dining room, the windows of which are decorated with blue cotton curtains.

The most practical are mixed types of fabrics, when natural fibers are added to synthetics.

  • Satin, jacquard and velvet are more suitable for bedrooms and living rooms, as they have a high density and are used for multi-level drapery. Light translucent fabrics are appropriate in the kitchen.
  • Thin chiffon is ideal for French and Austrian curtains, organza is more versatile and transmits light well, and mesh or patterned tulle looks great in a duet with thick curtains.

Curtains for the kitchen in different styles

Interior style narrows the choice of suitable styles. If you stick to a certain direction, it will be easier to decide on the design of the curtains.

Modern

Modern fashion gravitates towards simplicity, conciseness and monotony. In the projects of professional designers, kitchen curtains are increasingly used as a background.

Therefore, among all styles, Roman and rolled ones break all records, because for the kitchen these are ideal options in many respects - practicality, compactness, fire safety, strength and wear resistance, etc.

A pattern can enliven a monotonous, monochrome interior, but in a modern interpretation it should be unobtrusive, non-garish and harmoniously merging with the surrounding environment.

Classic

For a kitchen in a traditional, classic style, elegant curtains with tiebacks, lace, and lush drapery are suitable.

For a classic kitchen-living room or a kitchen combined with a dining room, you can choose long curtains.

If you need to decorate a window in the work area, then good options would be Austrian or Roman ones with a characteristic classical ornament.

In a small kitchen, you should give preference to modern classics or so-called neoclassics. In this case, it is better to abandon multi-layered, lush and richly decorated options, and choose something simpler and more restrained. For example, you can leave just one lambrequin if there is no need to hide from bright sunlight, or hang light curtains made of tulle or organza. A universal option would be Roman blinds of a plain design or with a discreet pattern.

Provence and country

For a kitchen with rural motifs, light curtains made of natural fabrics - cotton or linen, plain light or with a faded, pale floral pattern or checkered pattern are suitable.

Curtains with tiebacks, lace, and lambrequins will make the interior more elegant.

The most successful styles for a kitchen with a rural soul are cafe curtains, short curtains, and stained glass curtains. The romantic mood of the interior is created not only by the style, but also by the method of attachment - on the sash or on a thin cornice.

Minimalism and hi-tech

For such cold and ascetic styles as hi-tech and minimalism, the most successful solution would be background curtains that blend into the interior and perform only their direct task of protecting from bright light. The most simple, laconic without pretentious decor will do - roller blinds, pleated blinds, Roman blinds or blinds.

In styles such as Scandinavian, hi-tech, minimalism, it is permissible to abandon curtains altogether, if bright light does not interfere during the daytime, and the windows are not accessible to neighbors and passers-by.

How to choose a mount?

The type of fastening depends on how often the curtains are opened and closed, as well as the style of the kitchen. The most practical option for the kitchen is curtains with eyelets (rings sewn into the fabric). They fit perfectly into both modern and classic styles, creating smooth waves.

The most popular solution in most apartments is curtains on rings that are attached to a round cornice. They are durable, easily assembled into picturesque folds and do not require dismantling the entire structure when washing.

For kitchen curtains, the most functional method of fastening is loops or hidden tape. With this fastening, curtains can be removed without difficulty. Fasteners in the form of a rope or bows look good in a marine style, as well as Provence and country.

If the curtains often remain motionless, then fastenings that do not require a cornice are suitable. Installation is carried out to the ceiling or wall using brackets or special Velcro. Some types of blinds are attached directly to the frame.

Asymmetry in design

Asymmetrical curtains can be an assistant in the design of a small kitchen or in the design of a balcony block. For example, when you need to open a window but hide the door, a combination of Roman blinds and short curtains or drapes on one side is suitable. Tacks collect one of the curtains to one side.

This technique is limited by stylistic boundaries: asymmetry gives the interior softer, smoother and oval shapes. This is typical for classics or Provence, but is not suitable for most modern trends - high-tech, loft, scandi, etc.

Draping a kitchen window with tulle

If the room is small and the window is also small, the ideal way to decorate it is to use ordinary light, weightless tulle, transparent or translucent. Delicate lace creates a weightless effect, filling the room with air and light. Tulle takes up virtually no space, yet it looks expensive and easily fits into most popular interior styles.

You can use regular tulle without curtains if there is no need to protect your kitchen from prying eyes, as well as from direct sunlight. For a small kitchen, tulle up to the window sill is perfect, so it will get dirty less and will retain its attractive appearance longer. If the window faces the sunny side, it is recommended to install an additional Roman blind directly under the tulle.

How to decorate a window in a small kitchen?

When choosing curtains for a small kitchen, give preference to simple options with a laconic design and simple cut.

It is better to avoid multilayer options, lambrequins, curtains made of thick and rich fabrics such as velvet and velor.

Bright colored plain and patterned curtains have a place in a small kitchen, provided that they are the only bright spot in the interior and do not overload the space. It is necessary to place accents in small objects of the same color - pillows on chairs, vases, a kitchen towel, for example. But there shouldn’t be a lot of colored details.

Tips for choosing

When purchasing, it is recommended to take into account the size of the room, its lighting, as well as the interior style:

  • In a small kitchen, laconic curtains without multi-layered draperies and decorations are most appropriate.
  • In typical apartments, the kitchen has only one window, so you should not choose curtains that are too thick to interfere with natural light.
  • What looks good in the store does not always suit the kitchen environment. You should select curtains taking into account the style and color scheme of the interior.
  • If there is a dining group near the window, long curtains will get in the way and quickly get dirty.
  • The kitchen is subject to frequent contamination, and is also a source of odors and high humidity, so the functionality of curtains in such a room becomes a priority.

Curtains for the kitchen-living room

The choice of curtains for the kitchen-living room will primarily be influenced by two factors - the number of windows and their location.

In the first case, the proximity of the working area or its remoteness should be taken into account. If there is only one window in the kitchen-living room, which is not adjacent to the stove or work surface, then it is better to choose long curtains - curtains and/or drapes, which will add coziness to the interior.

If there are two windows in the studio or kitchen-living room, then the best option is a combination of several styles: for example, in the kitchen area - Roman or roller ones, and in the living room - long curtains or drapes.

Curtains on different windows can be united by one color scheme or a common pattern.

Japanese

If you are looking for a truly outlandish option for decorating a window in the kitchen, then you simply cannot pass by Japanese curtains.

They are a “screen” consisting of several panels, each of which is a rectangular piece of fabric. The width and height of one screen depends on the size of the window sash. The canvas is secured to a special guide using textile Velcro.

The panels can be lined up one after another in the form of a ladder, completely wrapped behind each other, moved symmetrically along the edges, or lined up in one line.

The main requirement is maximum tension of the fabric. For this purpose, weights are used, placed in the lower part, and hard fiberglass inserts are inserted into the side seams.

The exclusivity of Japanese curtains and their main distinguishing feature is their striking decorativeness. It will not be difficult for you to find canvases with extraordinary geometric, floral or plot designs.

Fashionable colors of 2022

This season, all sorts of grays are especially popular, ranging from silver, smoky “metallic” to rich tones of the color of wet asphalt. The wide range of different shades of gray provides many opportunities for experimentation.

The eco-theme in interior design, including kitchen design, has remained popular for several seasons. If this theme is close to you, feel free to choose curtains in soft shades of white, beige, and brown. The range of forest colors is at the peak of popularity: muted brown, colors of fresh greenery, autumn foliage and soft moss. Supporters of the eco-movement prefer naturalness in everything: this applies not only to color, but also to texture.

Another fashionable option for curtain colors is rich purple. It is not always easy to choose a suitable background for this mysterious shade, but in an interior with a dominant light color scheme it will always look impressive!

Unusual textures and materials for curtains, the use of non-standard combinations and high-quality fabrics are popular. Designers advise choosing materials with a pronounced texture and original weaving, richly decorated with sequins, embroidery, and lurex. As much glitter and chic as possible! The trend is the so-called “crinkled” fabrics and “chameleon” fabrics, shimmering in different colors.

The kitchen is a great place to experiment with curtain colors and decor! Where else can you hang curtains with eye-catching bright spots and unusual appliqués? Fancy ornaments and ethnic motifs that are fashionable this season can look equally good here. According to decorators, now is the time to create and express yourself in design without any restrictions. So try and experiment!

Determining the length of the curtains

Kitchen curtains come in short, medium and long. Short curtains, up to the window sill and a little higher, are chosen for small kitchens or when the space near the window sill is occupied by furniture. For large kitchens, long curtains, classic or Japanese, are desirable - this will give the kitchen interior a sophisticated nobility. You can combine short and long curtains, such as blinds and classic ones. Or hang a Roman blind on the window, and curtains on the balcony door next to it. If the window is small, it is better not to weigh it down with textile drapery and limit yourself to simple curtains or translucent curtains just below the window sill.

We combine different fabrics and textures

It is recommended to experiment in the kitchen. And not only in cooking, but also with curtains. We must not forget that curtains are decor, and they should attract attention and intrigue. To do this, you need to use unusual combinations of materials and textures. For example, light nylon curtains and thick linen lambrequins. Embroidery, appliqué, hemstitching, and original fabric weaving are welcome.

We are looking for material for curtains

To choose a material for kitchen curtains, you need to take into account two factors: the material’s resistance to stains and the quality of the fabric’s coloring. Fabrics with special dust- and dirt-repellent impregnation are now being produced. Textiles are treated with a compound to prevent rapid combustion and fading in the sun. The best fabrics for kitchen curtains are cotton and linen with the addition of synthetic fibers. Viscose, polyester and mixed fabrics are widely used. Silk and wool fabrics are not recommended: they are too capricious for active kitchen life.

Selecting a curtain model

There are several varieties of the most common types of curtains for the kitchen: Roman, Japanese, roller, coffee, classic models. Their photos can be easily found on the Internet.

Kiseya

Thread curtains are curtains made of threads that fall like a waterfall from the eaves, as if specially created for the kitchen.

They are beautiful, practical (they do not get dirty, do not absorb water and greasy fumes, are easy to wash), allow you to freely use the balcony door, allow air and light to pass through and, despite their ephemerality, effectively protect the interior space from prying eyes from the street.

These universal curtains have another useful property for the kitchen: with their help it is convenient to divide the space into zones.

Depending on the color and material of the threads, muslin can fit into any interior style from strict to romantic. As a window decoration, it is completely self-sufficient, but if necessary, it is not forbidden to combine it with curtains, tulle or horizontal blinds.

The photo shows a combination of classic curtains with muslin.

Kiseya perfectly accepts any curtain decorations: hairpins, tassels, bows, butterflies, beads, flowers made from ribbons and fabric. But since simplicity and conciseness are welcomed in the kitchen this season, when using muslin, designers advise limiting yourself to experiments with color combinations and thread textures.

And if you want to change the design of your window decoration without much effort, just drape such curtains with tiebacks or cut them, which is also easy.

Are tulle curtains suitable?

Tulle curtains are chosen by housewives if the curtains are more of a decorative element. New tulle products for the kitchen are now presented in all leading textile stores, so there should be no problems with their choice. They can be combined in various ways, combining different colors, different materials, and even geometric shapes.
