Making a bando with your own hands
A distinctive feature of the bandeau is its rigid frame base, which is attached on top of textile curtains or tulle. Often, to make this type of lambrequin, a professional bandeau is used - it is sold in rolls in specialized stores. But if it is not possible to purchase this material, you can use non-woven fabric or dublerin.
Before you start sewing, you need to take all measurements of the window and calculate the exact size of the future product. Then you need to make a sketch of the planned product, taking into account the size of the window and the wall on which it is located.
After all the measurements and the sketch are completed, we begin making the pattern. It is more convenient to do it on a paper surface; newspaper or old wallpaper are suitable for this. Then you need to create a base - transfer the pattern to the material itself, prepared for the lambrequin. Try to apply the design on the adhesive side itself, otherwise you will end up with a mirror image of what was originally planned.
After the base is created, we begin to connect it with the fabric. Most often, it is recommended to use dense natural fabrics for bandeaus - cotton, linen. When cutting material according to a pattern, you should leave allowances: at the bottom and sides - 3 cm, at the top - 5 cm. This is done so that the fabric can be processed later without losing the dimensions of the final product. The next step is to apply the fabric to the adhesive surface and smooth it with an iron with a steam function from the center to the sides. In this case, we do not use allowances; they must retain their originality.
Choosing fabric for a bandeau
Please note that the gang is not only a decorative element, but also a reinforcement for the cornice. If you make it from light fabric, the structure will simply hang over the curtain, without creating any support for the entire structure. Choose stiff and dense fabric from well-known manufacturers - this way you will reduce the chance of running into low-quality material that will bulge or look like rough cardboard.
As for the colors, it is advisable to choose something monochromatic, especially if the curtain is bright and contains any, even minor, ornament. Although the bandeau is a continuation of the curtain, it should stand out against its background, clearly showing that there are several elements in the design of the curtain. - lining (also made using allowances of the selected decorative fabric and the back part of the lining material, which must first be sewn together, then turned inside out, ironed so that the back fabric is not visible, and put on the base of the lambrequin).

When the curtain band is ready, place it on the cornice. To do this, it is most convenient to use adhesive tapes (two-component), with one part attached to the cornice, and the second sewn to the lambrequin itself.
