Photo: almode.ru Combining a bedroom with a living room is most often a necessary measure, because in a one-room apartment there are not many options. The fashion for open spaces and free layouts has contributed to the development of a lot of interesting solutions and design projects. We have collected the most interesting and practical options in this material, and we are ready to present them to you!
How to arrange a living room with a sleeping place
When planning the furnishings when combining a living room and a bedroom, you must proceed from the area of the room. Actually, there are several ways.
One of the options for equipping a living room-bedroom in one room
- Do not delimit the space, but use transformable furniture. In particular, a bed built into a closet or a sofa bed, but not in the old version, but in the new one (one example is shown in the photo).
- Separate the space for the bed by separating it with a stationary or sliding partition.
- Separate the bed with a screen or curtains.
- Use furniture (wardrobe, shelves, etc.) for zoning.
One of the ways to highlight the bedroom area in the living room is a partition, but not at full height. This is a view from the living room to the bedroom.
If the living room or bedroom is small (less than 16 square meters) or installing a bed and sofa is not possible due to the layout, there is a solution in The only option is to use transformable furniture. If the area allows, you can use any of the methods.
Ceilings in Stalinist houses
The main thing you need to pay attention to when remodeling apartments in Stalin buildings is the floors. There are three types:
- Reinforced concrete . With them, the process of approving redevelopment is normal, but you just need to double-check all BTI plans. In our experience, it is in Stalinist and brick houses that BTI makes the most mistakes. Inconsistencies arise due to the fact that the BTI specialist measures only one floor and then copies these measurements from the first floor to the last, although somewhere, for example, windows could have moved. It is important to detect all errors at the very beginning of approval. APM-1 can help: we have already encountered BTI plans with inaccuracies more than once, and we know how to ensure that all errors are corrected.
- Mixed , when in part of the apartment (for example, in the bathroom area) the floors are reinforced concrete, and throughout the other area - wooden;
- Wooden . As a rule, this applies to very old houses where there have been no reconstructions.
To understand what floors are currently in the house, you need to make a request to the BTI and receive a technical passport of the apartment, where on the first page there is general information about your house.
A page from the technical passport of the BTI apartment, which contains information about the floors in the house. You can obtain the document at the BTI at your place of residence.
For redevelopment in houses with mixed and wooden floors, you need to obtain a technical opinion from the State Budgetary Institution “Expert Center”. Specialists go to the site and inspect all premises to determine their condition. After this, a conclusion is issued on the possibility of redevelopment.
Apartment in a house in Maly Karetny Lane with wooden ceilings.
Sometimes apartments have a stove chimney, which must be remembered during redevelopment. Mostly gas stoves are installed in the kitchens, which affects the integration of the kitchen with the room - doors need to be installed.
How to divide a room into zones
To decide whether you can have two separate zones in the room or not, you need to first evaluate everything on the plan. This can be done in design programs that allow you to obtain a two or even three-dimensional image. If working with programs does not seem attractive to you, you can get by with two sheets of thick paper or cardboard.
One of the programs...
To evaluate zoning options manually, you will need a floor plan with dimensions drawn to scale. Display on it where the windows and doors are located (also with dimensions). Next, you need to think about where you would like to place the bed, where is the sofa for guests. For the living room-bedroom, these are the two key items that they try to put first. It is better to cut them out of cardboard, and also to scale. You will also need to cut out from cardboard the furniture that is necessary and must be there. If you don't have one yet, cut them out in the sizes you want. Then you can make adjustments.
On paper it looks something like this
The resulting set of “furniture” can be moved according to the room plan, finding possible options for the location of zones. If there are several options, sketch, sign where and what you will put, putting down the dimensions of the furniture and the passages between them. Then it will be possible for everyone to think about what type of zoning can be applied in each option. The program works approximately the same way, only the movement is virtual. Using a program or layouts, you will understand whether you can select two separate zones, while determining the size of each of them. If it is not possible to separate separate zones, you will have to make do with folding furniture.
Documents required for redevelopment in Stalin style
In the case of Stalinist buildings, the standard package of documents for the Moscow Housing Inspectorate is supplemented by a number of other papers. Here's what you need to prepare for approval:
- Application for redevelopment;
- Technical passport of BTI. An archival copy of the BTI apartment plan or a floor plan and explication will be suitable. Where and how to order a floor plan with an explanation, read here;
- Technical conclusion on the admissibility and safety of redevelopment, obtained from the State Budgetary Institution “Expert Center”;
An example of a floor plan with an explanation. Here you can also see that the area of the rooms in the Stalin apartments is really large. A floor plan is requested from the BTI.
- A redevelopment project carried out by any design organization that has SRO approval. You can order it from us;
- A certificate from JSC Mosgaz if you plan to rearrange the gas stove;
- A certificate from the management company if general building communications are affected - for example, a ventilation shaft;
- Permission from the Department of Cultural Heritage, if the house is classified as an architectural monument.
Documents are submitted electronically through the portal www.mos.ru, originals in paper form are obtained at the MFC branch, which you indicate when submitting your application.
As soon as permission for redevelopment is received, you can begin repairs, after which you will again contact the Moscow Housing Inspectorate. The inspector will check whether the work done matches the redevelopment project, and you will receive new documents for the apartment with legalized repairs.

Solution for small rooms
Arranging small rooms requires a special approach. Creating an interior is an art, and the design of a small room, and even a multifunctional one, is generally akin to circus art. Even the little things are important here.
For a small living room bedroom you need to think through everything to the smallest detail
Let's start with what is considered a small room in this case. In general, it is believed that a room with an area of 14-16 meters is rather large. But in the case of the need to accommodate two zones - a living room and a bedroom - this is really very little. These are the types of rooms - up to 16 square meters - and we will accept them as small ones. If the area is 18-20 meters or more, these are already “normal” sizes in which the living room and bedroom can be divided using any zoning techniques.
Using customizable furniture
In a small room, it is not always possible to combine a living room and a bedroom, while installing a full-size bed. But you can always put a transformable sofa instead of a regular sofa. This is not a sofa bed on which you can only sleep conditionally. Modern transformable furniture can provide the same level of comfort as a regular stationary bed. There are models with orthopedic mattresses. Width ranges from single to full double.
Wardrobe that turns into a bed
Can be converted into a double bed:
- Closet. When closed, it looks like an ordinary wardrobe; it folds back and becomes a bed.
- Sofa. This type of furniture in the “day” position is similar to a sofa that stands near the closet; in the “night” position, the bed lowers, crushing the sofa under itself.
The options described above require a free space of at least 220-250 cm in front of the sofa or closet (depending on the model). And after the bed is in place, there should be at least a narrow passage left. So, in fact, the distance to the transformable furniture should be at least 280 cm. But you get a full-fledged double bed. The mattress can even be orthopedic.
This is an interesting transformation
There are also options for single or single beds. In them, the base of the bed is attached to the furniture with the long side. They require less free space - no more than 200 cm in the case of a one-and-a-half bed or 150 cm in the case of a single bed.
Unusual ways
There is one non-trivial option for how you can highlight the bedroom area in the living room: make a podium on which to place some area. There you can place, for example, several armchairs and a coffee table or place a sofa. Push the bed under the podium.
Make a podium and roll up a bed under it for the day (you can make a chest of drawers from the steps)
With this solution, the flooring must be of sufficient height so that the bed can be hidden under it. Long and narrow rooms, also called trailers, are ideal for this solution.
Another option for the young and active: move the bedroom to a closet. A square or rectangle of sufficient area to accommodate a sleeping place is assembled from cabinet furniture (high shelves, cabinets). You can do this using plasterboard partitions (as in the photo). On one side a staircase is built in/attached, along which one climbs up “to the bedroom”.
Here's an unusual way to separate the living room and bedroom
It turns out to be a living room-bedroom without reducing the living room area. You can even make the room even more multifunctional: arrange a workplace or mini-office in a space fenced off with furniture. This is an excellent option for a small studio apartment where young people live.
All this is not bad, but it is worth knowing about the disadvantages. First, the solutions are not cheap. Transformable furniture costs a lot, as does making a podium with sufficient load-bearing capacity. Secondly, every evening and every morning, in order to get and hide a sleeping place, you will have to make certain body movements. This only seems easy at first. In fact, it gets boring pretty quickly...until it becomes a habit.
Stalin series
Stalin's houses have many series. One part of the buildings was built according to individual projects - mainly in the center of Moscow and along the main avenues of the capital. Now these houses are often architectural landmarks, which poses certain difficulties when coordinating redevelopment in them.
Typical "Stalin" guns have many series: II-01, II-03 (I-410 (SAKB)), II-14, MG-1, SM-6, II-02, II-04, II-08.
On average, houses have from 4 to 9 floors, but there are buildings even higher - for example, a residential high-rise on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment with 32 floors or a house on Kudrinskaya Square, where the buildings have 24 and 18 floors.
Stalin's house series SM-6. Buildings of this type have 8-9 floors. APM-1 has already completed more than 250 redevelopment projects for apartments in this series.
Choose a place for the sleeping area
When dividing rooms into a bedroom and a living room, first of all you need to decide where you want to make the bedroom. Most often, the corner farthest from the entrance is chosen. This makes sense, since the bedroom requires the greatest degree of privacy.
If there is a window in the separated area, you will have to make sure that there is enough light in the rest of the room. Glass partitions, separation using screens or curtains, specially created translucent shelves help with this.
The bed in the living room with a separate bedroom is usually placed further away from the entrance
In the opposite situation - if the window is in the living room area, the situation is slightly better. Firstly, the bedroom is usually used at night. So natural light is not such a necessity. Although we are accustomed to the fact that it should be. There are two solutions: make the division so that there is enough light or get what is missing by installing additional lamps.
What else is important when remodeling an apartment in a Stalin building?
In addition to ceilings and unloading partitions, you need to pay attention to:
- ventilation in the apartment . Its channels can go in the most unexpected places. For example, ventilation shafts can be hidden in load-bearing walls, if any. It is important to find them in time, because if you make an opening, you will not be able to legitimize it, and you will have to rebuild the wall;
- engineering Communication . In most steel buildings they are laid openly, and when installing decorative structures it is necessary to provide access to them;
- house status . If it belongs to the architectural monuments, then you will coordinate any changes in the layout of the apartment with the Department of Cultural Heritage.
Zoning the living room-bedroom with partitions
For zoning, partitions made of plasterboard and glass are used. The installation of both is not a redevelopment, so it does not require approval.
Not everyone likes the idea of putting a room divider. But it may not be whole. Very often, a “monolithic” partition is erected to a height of a meter or a little more, and above that they make something openwork that allows light to pass through. This solves the problem of natural lighting and the structure does not look as heavy as a wall.
Partitions - they are different. Also a good way to isolate a bed.
Openwork things are made from plasterboard. Also an option.
The upper part can be designed in different ways. If you want physical separation, but without much loss of light, it could be patterned, frosted, colored glass. Do not be afraid that the glass partition is fragile - it can withstand loads greater than drywall.
Other options: various types of wood and metal products. There are a lot of options - from functional or decorative shelves, to pins made of wood, metal, bamboo, etc. simply installed in a certain order (or without it).
Conclusion
The possibility of redevelopment in Stalinka buildings completely depends on what kind of floors the house has, whether everything is fine with them in the apartment, and whether there are unloading partitions. Only after finding out all these nuances, a redevelopment project is prepared. We know all the intricacies of repairs in Stalin buildings, so we get approval from the Moscow Housing Inspectorate the first time.

Separating zones with screens
You can create zoning in the living room and bedroom using screens. This is a quick and inexpensive way to zone the living room and bedroom in one room. Do not think that this method is outdated and irrelevant. If you choose the right textures, materials, colors, everything looks very stylish, original and appropriate.
Option for a translucent partition for zoning the living room and bedroom
A portable screen can be stylish. You can even use a rope curtain as a screen. The main thing is the visual delimitation of space Light mobile curtain Openwork is good in classic interiors
There are traditional screens - portable, folding. But it is far from necessary that they have an “old-regime” appearance. No, traditional-type screens - covered with tapestries - are good for classic interiors. And those that come from the “sixties” - painted, made of wood and plywood - look great in a loft or art deco. If your living room or bedroom is decorated in this style, it will not be difficult for you to find the right option. But modern interiors require other materials and textures, and here you will have to try.
Glass screens
Glass screens are ideal for modern style, minimalism, and hi-tech. It’s just that you have to choose different glass. For hi-tech and minimalism, the best option is tinted with a silver coating, reminiscent of a mirror. White, milky, gray will look good - depending on the design of the bedroom-living room. A living room bedroom in Provence style can also be equipped with a screen made of painted plywood. But if you don’t like a too “rural” option, you can add a glass screen with photo printing. You can choose one of the landscapes that are typical for the south of France, use colored glass with floral patterns.
The frame is made of metal, the filling is frosted glass or sheet polycarbonate
Milk glass is opaque, but allows enough light to pass through
A look from the other side
Interesting option with patterned glass
Glass mobile screen of a traditional type. Patterns are applied using a sandblaster.
And again, don’t think that glass is fragile. For such products they use hardened or laminated (duplex and triplex), and they are stronger than many sheet materials.
From other materials
If you still don’t like glass, you can make or look for partitions made of plastic, wood, etc. You can make a wooden screen into a wooden house. If you know how to work with wood, this will not be difficult, since the design is simple. You can imitate a wall, you can make a lighter, openwork design. Again, everything depends on the style in which the living room and bedroom are decorated.
A patterned plastic partition visually separates zones from one another. The simplest wooden screen made of rods or planks
Carved wood panels require more skill
Metal openwork….
If wood is only found in some decorative items, frames are made from it, and the filling is selected according to your own taste. After all, it could be fabric. The same as on curtains or upholstery. You can use fiberboard laminated to match the furniture, plywood or thin chipboard. You can even assemble such a screen from drywall and cover it with wallpaper or paint it - it will be a movable wall.
For a modern style, you can use well-aimed branches painted in the main or one of the additional colors. They are attached to frames along or across to create a translucent screen. Bamboo, metal rods, etc. can be secured in the same way. In general, as usual in interior design, this is a creative process.
Sliding screens
A few more words about sliding screens. They are in a separate class, since they are not as “nailed into place” as stationary partitions, but also not as mobile as portable screens. A very good option for zoning the living room and bedroom into one room if you want to have a secluded corner for relaxation.
Sliding screens can be of three types. They can move like sliding doors, fold like a book or an accordion. For all of them, the bottom needs guides that are attached either to the ceiling, or to the floor, or to both the floor and the ceiling at the same time. Only screens with a bottom guide can not reach the ceiling, but they are the most unstable. If you have children or are not sure that you will use them carefully, it is better to use floor-to-ceiling models.
Sliding screens are made like compartment doors Living room bedroom with division of zones using sliding screens
With a slight touch of oriental style, Geometry always looks good
The material for screens of this type is any sheet: glass, plastic, laminated fiberboard, MDF. You can look for similar systems in companies that deal with sliding wardrobes. Doors for sliding wardrobes are made using the same system and partitions are no different.
Frequent mistakes when remodeling an apartment in a Stalin building
The first mistake is the demolition of unloading partitions, or the approval by the designer of a design project for an apartment where these partitions are not present.
Let us repeat that under no circumstances should the unloading partitions be dismantled! We had to see their demolition in houses on Strastnoy Boulevard and Krasnopresnenskaya Street. We were unable to convince the owner of one of these apartments to return the partition to its place; as a result, his redevelopment will definitely not be legalized.
In the second case, we managed to do this. The partitions were replaced with other structures that perform a similar role. Such repairs will be approved by the Moscow Housing Inspectorate.
The second mistake is inaccuracies in the BTI plans, when after measurements the drawings were made incorrectly.
The third mistake is to make repairs without finding out what the layout is in the apartments of the neighbors above and below. Since the Stalinist houses are more than half a century old, during this time your neighbors could have already made repairs. You need to renovate your apartment so as not to worsen the living conditions for yourself or your neighbors.
Before you start redevelopment, you need to request the BTI plans of the neighbors above and below. Doing a design project without them also makes no sense. You may want to increase the bathroom area by the area of the corridor, but if your neighbors already have a living room there, you cannot expand your bathroom.
We have collected all other repair errors in our memo.
Zoning with curtains
An even more inexpensive way is to have a living room/bedroom divided into zones by curtains. All that is required is to select and secure curtain rods. Then select fabrics and sew panels of the required sizes. The fabrics used are the same as for windows and they do not have to be thick, although this option is possible.
Curtains can be without folds - in the Japanese style. Draperies around the perimeter - to create coziness. Visible division
Double curtains - it is important to choose the right curtain rods
The drapery can cover only the “clearance”, or it can also go along the walls, creating a cozy atmosphere. But this option will still require quite a bit of money, since you need a lot of fabric.
Such zoning of the bedroom and living room combined in one room is nominal, but creates the required feeling of privacy. It can be used in the version with portable screens as a temporary option - if you just can’t decide where exactly to place the bedroom and living room areas, or how to distribute the area between them.
Correct lighting
The right light is especially important for children's growing bodies. Moreover, kids are engaged in creativity, reading, studying, and doing homework. Therefore, you need to approach the organization of lighting no less carefully than choosing a bed or workplace.
Natural light
The best light is always natural. That is why the brightest room is traditionally chosen for children's rooms. Ideally, with windows facing east or southeast.
Sunlight affects the entire lifestyle of children, their emotional background, vigor and performance.
Even curtains for the nursery are recommended to be light, airy and transparent. And at night, if necessary, lower thick roller fabrics, like Roman blinds.
Artificial lighting
The current trend is multi-level lighting. This is especially valuable in a children's room.
— A bright overhead light is suitable for the play area. It is better to place the central chandelier above it. If this area is located in a corner, two-tier plasterboard ceilings with built-in spotlights will solve the problem.
— The middle level is shifted diffused light above the sofa, computer desk, or near the TV.
— The third level is working lighting. These are tabletops and swivel sconces above the desktop
It is important to think through this area so that children do not interfere with each other
— Don't forget about the light above the bed. Choose soft, adjustable lamps for this. Especially when there are two children in the room. This way, one of them can, for example, read a book in bed without disturbing the other.
Power and brightness
Calculate the power of the lamps based on the following considerations: 10-15 Watts per square for the entire room, 50-60 Watts per square for the work and play areas.
Don't forget about color temperature. There are two types of light bulbs used for living rooms:
- At 3000-4000K. This is a warm yellowish light for chandeliers and wall lights in living rooms; - At 4000-5000K. This is a neutral background for functional rooms. It is used instead of daytime.
Lamps up to 3000K produce warm orange light. It's cozy for evening gatherings, but not suitable for everyday activities. Temperatures above 5000K are bluish white lamps, as in museums, hospitals, laboratories, and shops.
Using furniture to separate
It is not always possible to allocate even a small piece of space in a small room under a non-functional partition. Moreover, furniture can perform the same task. Usually this is a closet or high shelves.
Most often, the lower part of the furniture is made without gaps (about a meter high). I make this part in the form of a cabinet or chest of drawers. The top one is usually made with through gaps. This way the furniture doesn’t look so bulky and doesn’t “clog” the space. In addition, this solution allows you to maintain natural light in both parts of the room.
A cabinet or chest of drawers is made in the lower part, shelves are made above
Non-linear shape adds originality
A look from the other side The main thing is not to clutter the shelves
When developing the concept of such furniture or looking for ready-made options, keep in mind that all horizontal surfaces collect dust well. Each shelf is a dust collector. If they are not planned to be used, it is better to make as few horizontal lines as possible. It is better to hang several decorative items in the spaces between the racks. They collect much less dust, and perhaps look more original.
Children's room for three children - boys and girls: design features, zoning
It will be difficult to please everyone in the color scheme and zoning; the ideal option is to use neutral colors in an environment that suits both boys and girls. And when zoning, they try to distribute the space as evenly as possible.
Scandinavian style, eco and neoclassical interior items allow you to create harmony in the room. The differences between children are manifested in details: textiles, decoration. In any case, the room will have common areas: a play area, a sofa. Here you need to create a mixture of styles, some in pink, some in blue. Or “assign” a different color to each child; three shades will look more interesting and universal.
Select the brightest area for training, clear the passage as much as possible so as not to touch objects along the way.
If the girl is a teenager (or two), the sleeping place should be isolated, covered with a curtain or partition. An area for personal care and a personal hidden shelf for things are also needed.
If children of different sexes, the room can be divided using flowers in decoration Source dizainexpert.ru For three children of different sexes, you can determine colors separately for each and use them for decoration Source dizainexpert.ru
Living room bedroom: additional zoning techniques
In addition to physical separation, zoning the living room-bedroom in one room can be done using:
- Changes in floor and ceiling levels. For example, the bedroom area can be raised a little, and to further emphasize the division, you can use different flooring. It can be the same in color, but different in texture or material. For example, lay laminate flooring in the living room area and carpet in the bedroom area. You can also use different colors.
Different wall colors are one of the means of zoning. So the living room and bedroom clearly have two parts with different purposes. Separation by color
The podium is not small... but it can be 5-10 cm high
- Decorate the walls with different colors. You can use wallpaper of two colors, but with the same texture, paint it in a different color, etc.
- Different texture of the walls. In the living room, for example, there is decorative plaster of the Venetian type, in the bedroom there is liquid wallpaper.
These techniques will also help you zone your living room. But when choosing colors, you must be guided by the principles of color compatibility. Then you will be able to create a harmonious interior.
Arranging a study corner
If two schoolgirls will live in a room, you need to provide two workplaces where the girls can study
It is important to organize everything correctly so that the child has a desire to learn, and also so that he is comfortable in his place for learning
There are several recommendations that are worth adopting to make the study corner truly comfortable and safe.
You need to choose the right place; it should be quiet, located away from sources of noise and distracting objects. For example, it is not recommended to install a study table close to the gaming area or TV.
It is important to properly zone the room so that the work area is separated as much as possible from other parts of the room; this creates discipline and helps maintain order. For example, it is a very bad idea to combine a play corner and a study area.
For younger children, it is better to set up a small study area away from the play area, so that the child is under the supervision of an older sister or parents.
It is advisable to install a study table away from the bed so that the child does not associate this corner with rest.
For two schoolgirls, you can install a single desktop on the entire wall, but divide it with a border of shelves or a rack so that the sisters do not distract each other during the learning process.
It is better to choose a table with a cabinet and drawers that the child can use to store notebooks, textbooks and stationery.
The width of the working surface of the table should be at least 90-100 cm so that the child can use his place for learning without discomfort. If there is a computer on the table, you will need to provide a place for it.
If there is not enough space, you can use transformable furniture, a folding or pull-out table.
You need to choose a table of the correct height - when the child is sitting, the tabletop should be approximately 3-4 cm above the level of his elbows.
The study chair should also be of the correct height; an adjustable seat is ideal. It is advisable to give preference to models that meet orthopedic safety requirements.
It is advisable to place your workplace near a window. In the event that the window faces the sunny side. It is necessary to purchase a high-quality curtain or blinds with a day-night system to regulate the light intensity.
Decorating the children's room
Pay attention to the selection of quality materials. The child's health depends on it
It is better to focus on materials that are resistant to mechanical damage.
The color palette of the finishing is selected based on the style direction and size of the room
Ceiling finishing
The ceiling requires the least amount of planning time. The layout of a small nursery can include a variety of materials. For the ceiling it is recommended to use:
- Painting. Allows you to select different colors. Very easy to apply.
- Wallpaper. There are many non-standard options: space, clouds.
- Decorative plaster. Suitable for those rooms where there are non-standard architectural inserts.
- Whitewash. Cheap option, durable in application. Maintains the height of the room and is a fireproof building material.
When choosing wallpaper for the ceiling of a children's room, preference should be given to light shades with unobtrusive patterns.
A suspended ceiling will allow you to place built-in lamps for comfortable lighting of the room space
Floor finishing
There are several options for materials that are relevant to use when creating a children's room plan:
- laminate;
- PVC tiles;
- soft floor;
- cork;
- parquet board.
Cork is a soft, warm, environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic material
In a small child's room, a carpet should be laid on the floor
Wall decoration
The decor on the walls should be neutral, which does not cause visual irritation. The materials used are environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic. An interesting idea is to arrange a slate wall. The child will be able to draw on the walls without damaging the wallpaper.
A slate wall will eliminate the need to constantly change wallpaper
Another interesting solution is wallpaper on which you can draw
Minimalism is characterized by painted plain walls. But you can add the baby’s original drawings. Also on the market you can find a large selection of wallpapers that will help you achieve the desired style.
Plain painted walls are a suitable solution for a nursery in a minimalist style
Multi-level structures
The range of multi-level beds for three children is quite large. From variations with levels, angular or planar arrangement, you can choose the design that is most suitable for the conditions of the children's room.
Two tiers
Designs in two tiers with three sleeping places at once can be different. It can be a “double bottom” and one place on the second floor, or vice versa, one sleeping place below and two on the upper tier. In the second option, the upper, double bed seems to hang over the lower floor and looks like a balcony. The tiers can be located either under each other or in an L-shape.
Three tiers
The three-tier design saves space in the nursery. True, in this case it will not be very convenient to change bed linen. In addition, this option for accommodating three children can only be used in apartments and houses with high ceilings.
Folding structures
In this case there may also be variations. For example, when folded, it is a bunk bed, and during sleep, the lower, additional tier is pulled out, and a sleeping place appears for the third child.
Two tiers can be folded. This design allows children to have enough space to play during the day.
An interesting option for three children is a fully retractable bed, called a “chest of drawers” or “matryoshka”. In this design, three berths are pulled out sequentially, which when unfolded take the form of steps.
