Many young families are familiar with the situation: they bought a one-room apartment, have almost no money left, but want to live in comfort. Even if you have a modest budget, it does not mean that you need to live without repairs to the screed-plaster. You can do budget renovations in a one-room apartment with your own hands. To do this, you will have to study video tutorials and master classes on the Internet on how to hang wallpaper without bubbles, lay laminate flooring without gaps and paint ceilings. But the main thing is that you will have to travel a lot to construction stores and markets to find building materials at a reasonable price.

We look for and select inexpensive building materials for renovation
Even if you are doing a budget renovation and trying to save on a lot, do not forget that you cannot skimp on your own health and safety. To prevent a small budget renovation of a new one-room apartment from turning into big problems, when choosing furniture and any building material, do not forget simple recommendations.

First, make a clear plan in which you need to describe in detail what repairs you will do in each room and what materials to use for this. Don’t forget to write down all the little things: screws, nails, glue, primer. The financial success of the renovation depends on how correctly and clearly you can plan everything. When the plan is ready and everything is calculated, you can go to the hardware store. It is better to make purchases in stores with wholesale prices and look for products on sale. The most important thing is that when you find yourself in such a shopping center, do not get confused by the rich assortment and buy everything only according to plan.
You can make beautiful repairs using materials from domestic manufacturers. But before making a choice, it is worth reading reviews about their products. If laminate is cheap, but they don’t say anything good about it on the forums, don’t buy this product. You need to save wisely and try to find the golden combination of quality and price.
In the store, be sure to check the expiration date and pay attention to the tightness of the packaging and composition. Even if you want to renovate your apartment cheaply, do not buy toxic materials. They are cheaper, but can cause great harm to health. Under no circumstances should you buy such materials for children’s rooms or bedrooms.
Study the performance characteristics of materials. Pay attention to whether they tolerate high humidity and temperature changes well. For example, in rooms with high humidity there is no need to install laminate flooring - it will quickly swell and you will have to choose a new coating.

Budget renovation in a rented apartment: main stages
Inexpensive renovation in a rented apartment
Often, when moving into a rented home, you want to carry out routine renovations in the apartment.
. At the same time, as a tenant, you will have to go through “several steps”:
Discuss repairs with the owners
No matter how long you rent, other people own the apartment. Therefore, any of your ideas will have to be agreed upon. And first, is it possible to make changes to the apartment? If so, who will pay for it: the owners, you, or both?
If several tens of thousands of rubles don’t hurt your pocket, and the aesthetics of your appearance are more expensive, take it all on yourself!
Choose a repair: cosmetic or major?
If you really want changes, and you will pay in half with the owners of the apartment or they will pay for the repairs themselves, then make up your mind! You will live for the same rent in more comfortable conditions! But this rarely happens.
Being realistic, we understand that most often repairs can be purely cosmetic. Therefore, weigh who will do the finishing (yourself or hire craftsmen) - and get started!
The most profitable option: wallpapering and painting batteries
This type of renovation is common, especially for rented apartments. That is, it is not so much cosmetic or finishing as it is decorative.
The stages of its implementation will be as follows:
1. Preparation. You should take out old unnecessary things and even pieces of furniture and remove the previous wallpaper. Sometimes they come off along with the plaster.
2. Wall decoration. If there is an unplanned removal of the top layer of plaster, you will have to apply putty. At least one layer.
3. Purchase of materials. The most important thing here is to select the necessary materials. It is especially important to choose wallpaper, because it will help you place the right accents in the room. Unique people manage to spend a minimum of money on this purchase with maximum efficiency. It is also advisable to cover up old floors. Carpet is an expensive thing. But carpet material in rolls is a completely acceptable choice.
4. Creation of hand-made elements. You can make your own pillows and even rugs from balls of balls. But DIY chandeliers and lamps look even cooler. They can be either concrete or made from golden wires, sockets and Edison lamps. Lampshades made from flowerpots can “fit” into classic, country, and minimalist styles.
5. You can invest in a couple of new chairs. This will add harmony and functionality to the dining or study area. Or chairs can “move” from room to room, depending on need. If you paint them from modern spray cans with some attractive shade, they will become a distracting element of the interior.
6. Wallpapering. It’s okay if the walls are simply puttied. And not in several layers. When the apartment is rented and the renovation option is budget-friendly, this will do.
7. Furniture transformation. Apartments with antediluvian Soviet furniture are often rented out cheaply. In this case, with the permission of the owners, it can be sanded and covered with black slate paint. This is enough for it to take on a new look. A couple of bright symbols or geometric shapes painted with a different paint will add elements of life and joy. If young people live in the apartment, you can draw or glue posters on treated furniture with this option.
8. Window decoration. If the window frames are peeling and worn, there is no point in replacing them in a rented apartment. But you can close it. The first thing that comes to mind is different, albeit old, but clean toys. Second - curtains. You can save money on them too. All you need to do is select the required piece of fabric at a sale or stock and process it.
This option for renovating a rented apartment is so budget-friendly that it will take about 20-30,000 rubles, even if you have to “treat” not only the room, but the entire apartment in this way. This is if you don’t hire specialists and you have enough time to manage it yourself.
Choosing paints for budget repairs
To create an original room design, you can use inexpensive paint for walls and ceilings. The stores offer dozens of paints that differ in composition and characteristics:
- acrylic;
- water-based;
- oil;
- alkyd;
- latex;
- water-dispersed;
- silicone.
If you choose high-quality paint, it will adhere well, smell nice and retain its original color for a long time. When renovating a one-room apartment yourself, it is best to paint the walls. It will be much faster than gluing wallpaper. The paint will hide all wall defects: chips, scratches, unevenness. And if you glue wallpaper, you will have to putty the walls, which will bring additional costs.

An inexpensive option is oil paints. They look nice, but don't last long. A wall covered with such paint does not breathe, which affects the microclimate of the room. Alkyd paints are more expensive, but they are wear-resistant and do not retain color for long. You can create a stylish interior design with them, because they can be tinted and search for your ideal shade.
Silicate paints withstand any mechanical stress, “breathe”, and are not afraid of fungus and mold. But due to the special composition, which includes liquid glass, such paints are expensive and are not sold in all construction stores.
Affordable to average-income buyers, water-soluble paints are easy to apply and retain color for a long time. Acrylic paints are most often used in interior design. They are not afraid of sunlight, moisture, protect walls from mold and corrosion and have excellent elasticity. Such paints are more expensive than other types, but they can transform an ordinary Khrushchev-era building beyond recognition.

How I chose materials
I already had all the tools; I only needed to buy the necessary materials. Usually I make my first trip to buy building materials an introductory one, I try to visit as many stores as possible, compare prices - I write them down in a notebook. On my next trip I buy rough materials - primer, plaster, putty, etc. Then I buy finishing materials - as much as will fit in the trunk of the car. Sometimes one trip is not enough. I don’t use delivery, it “eats” 2-3 thousand rubles at least.
To buy linoleum, I went to the Kazan construction hypermarket “Upravdom”. There, the material I liked cost 700 rubles per square meter, I needed 15 “squares”. The total was more than 10 thousand. I didn't buy it right away because of the price. I went to the website of this store on the Internet, where the same linoleum cost 500 rubles per m2.
It turned out that on the website of this store all products are listed at a maximum discount, but in the store itself there are increased price tags, and sellers can make a discount to the price indicated on the Internet. But not all buyers bargain, and not all sellers talk about discounts, wanting to earn more on the percentage of sales. So I was able to buy linoleum 25% cheaper - for 7500 ₽.
I chose wallpaper from local stores “World of Wallpaper,” where they give a 10% discount to new residents, and “Agave.” In the last store, the discount for those who have recently bought a home is even higher - 13%. In the end, I chose vinyl wallpaper on a non-woven basis for 1600 RUR per roll, taking into account the discount. Total paid 6900 ₽.
I purchased skirting boards and other materials from Leroy Merlin. These are sockets, a switch, wallpaper glue and a bag of putty. I chose wide skirting boards (8 cm wide) to make it look more impressive. Accordingly, the price of these skirting boards is higher.
Which wall covering to choose?
To make an inexpensive design for a one-room apartment, you need to choose the right wall covering. To decorate the walls in the apartment you can use:
- wallpaper;
- paint;
- wooden panels;
- plastic;
- tile;
- a natural stone;
- decorative plaster;
- brick.
For repairs in economy mode, paper wallpaper, paint, brick, tiles and plastic panels are suitable. Other types of coatings are more expensive. Wallpaper and paint can be used to decorate the walls in the hallway and room. In the kitchen and bathroom you can combine tiles and plastic. Paper wallpaper looks beautiful, but wears out quickly. On the other hand, this is a good reason to refresh the walls in a couple of years.

Choosing inexpensive flooring
If you want to renovate a one-room apartment inexpensively, save on flooring. Give up the idea of laying parquet or natural stone - it’s expensive and definitely not suitable for a tiny studio. Suitable for decorating the floor in a one-room apartment:
- linoleum;
- laminate;
- tile.
Laminate looks no worse than parquet and decorates the simplest interior. It does not require the same maintenance as parquet. Linoleum does not look as impressive, but is cheap. You can put a beautiful high-pile carpet on it. For the bathroom, it is better to choose inexpensive floor tiles. For rooms with high humidity, no better coating has been invented. Even if it’s not Italy, but Russia.

Repair components
Repairs are divided into two types – major and cosmetic. In the first case, it means replacing everything:
- electrical wiring;
- plumbing pipes;
- windows and doors;
- floors and ceilings.
Repairs require large financial costs and take a lot of time. With cosmetics everything is much simpler. The concept implies replacing wallpaper, changing the interior and design without major alterations.
Selection of inexpensive materials for the bathroom
The bathroom can be renovated inexpensively, but beautifully. To do this, you need to use inexpensive tiles, drywall and plastic panels. Think through the design down to the smallest detail: cover ugly pipes with plasterboard and top with tiles or plastic. Using siding will save on tiles.
Buy domestically produced sanitary ware, bathtubs and sinks. The ceiling can be painted with water-based paint. And if possible, it is better to sew it up with plastic.
Budget and simple ideas for renovating a one-room apartment
If you don’t know how to make budget renovations in a one-room apartment, take note of a few current ideas. There is no need to spend money on building plasterboard partitions.
The room can be divided into zones using curtains, screens, lights, or using different wall and floor coverings.

The room will seem more spacious if you use light finishing materials for decoration and glue photo wallpaper to one of the walls.
To prevent the interior from being too small and cramped, it must have bright accents. These can be pieces of furniture, part of a wall or floor, painted in a contrasting color. Try to plan your space so that every square centimeter is used rationally. Then your home will be cozy, spacious and functional.
How I did the renovation
I decided to lay new linoleum, glue wallpaper and install electrical wiring myself, since this work is simple and does not require special skills or special tools. All I needed was a hammer drill, a screwdriver, a utility knife, a spatula, a roller, and a brush.
Usually, if I don’t know how to perform a particular stage of work, I watch videos on YouTube, since experienced craftsmen generously share their experience there. After this online training, I try to do the work myself. This way you don’t have to hire workers, which also saves money.
Features of renovating a small hallway
In a one-room apartment, it is important to properly think through the renovation of the hallway. If you choose an apartment in a new building, give preference to those apartments where there is a niche in the hallway. It can be used as a wardrobe.
For the hallway walls, it is better to choose a light, warm color scheme. Lay brown laminate or linoleum on the floor, and decorate the space in front of the entrance with tiles. The hallway should have several light sources at different levels, then it will seem spacious.

Sequencing
Having decided what you want to do in your one-room apartment during renovation, you can submit the project for approval. This is not a quick thing. In the meantime, start calculating materials and purchasing them. The advice is this: start a separate notebook or file - whatever you’re used to. For each type of work, set aside a separate page where you write everything that needs to be done about it. First, all the work that is necessary, then - in detail all the required materials. And right down to nails, anchors, screws (with sizes), tape and other little things, of which there are countless quantities.
Arranging furniture in a one-room apartment is a creative process
Having completed the development for each type of work, make a general list of materials: sum up the quantity. Then you can start looking for places to purchase. Some can be found on the Internet, some in stores. People often buy small things without looking at them, but they prefer to make more or less large purchases by visiting stores. And this is correct: quality cannot be determined from a picture. Therefore, first call, check the prices, then go to the addresses, look and feel. And don't be shy to ask questions. By the time you collect all the materials, the documents will be ready.
While the apartment is turning into a warehouse
That's when the actual work begins. Whether to make repairs in an apartment yourself or hire a team - everyone decides this question for themselves. If you hire different people for different types of work, careful control is necessary during the entire process, since once they have completed their “piece” of work, they will disappear. Those masters who come after them will nod that their predecessors did everything... wrong.
It is impossible to give clear instructions on what to do and why: the work may be too different, but in general the order is as follows:
- Dismantling/installation of partitions.
- Modernization of engineering systems (ventilation, plumbing) and electrical wiring (installation of an electrical panel, distribution of electrical wiring in rooms through distribution boxes).
- Replacement of windows.
- Leveling walls, ceilings, plastering.
- Heating system installation.
- Pouring/flooring.
- Door installation.
- Finishing work.
- Furniture arrangement
If some work is not needed, simply omit it. But if a major renovation is planned, then all of them are necessary, especially in old apartments.
Renovation of a large room in a one-room apartment
Such a room will simultaneously serve as a bedroom, living room, office and nursery. To make everyone feel comfortable in it, you need to use a popular design technique for zoning space.
Even at the renovation planning stage, consider such a division. To highlight each zone, you can use a different floor covering or several types of wallpaper. The sleeping area can be raised onto a podium, and the office can be fenced off with a screen. Even choosing a cheap renovation, a large room can be made functional. You just need to abandon the idea of building structures from plasterboard and making a multi-tiered ceiling.
How I planned the renovation
Since the budget was initially limited, I decided to minimize the pre-finishing work, refuse designer wallpaper, a golden chandelier and other luxuries that I didn’t need. Even at the preparation stage, I had a clear plan and a full understanding of what the room should look like after the renovation.
I have planned the following scope of work:
- replace linoleum and baseboards;
- re-glue the wallpaper;
- stretch the ceiling;
- connect the electrics, since there was only one socket;
- make thoughtful lighting, because light always visually transforms an apartment.
I didn’t have a design project, everything was in my head - this is another point on which I saved during the renovation. I usually look for ready-made options on Instagram: I type “room design” or “bedroom design” into the search and scroll through the options.
There are already more than ten repairs behind me. I experimented, tried different options. For example, a dark floor or dark doors with baseboards. But still, in my experience, bright solutions are always better: such apartments sell better. In the case of this kitchen, it was decided to stick to classic colors - light wallpaper in warm colors, white glossy ceiling, light linoleum.
Important features of kitchen renovation
To make your own renovation cheaply and beautifully, you need to think through every detail and be especially careful when choosing decorative materials for the kitchen.
In a small kitchen there is no need to install plasterboard frames, use wallpaper with a catchy pattern, make suspended ceilings, or clutter it with unnecessary furniture and small objects. To decorate walls, it is better to use light finishing materials, choose transformable furniture and give preference to the minimalist style. With the help of lighting, it can be divided into a dining and work area. Give preference to natural finishing and decorative materials, then the room will turn out cozy.

How I prepared a room for renovation
Looking ahead, I will say that I did all the pre-finishing and finishing work myself. In addition to work on suspended ceilings.
First I had to get rid of the old wallpaper, remove the dark linoleum and tear off all the tiles. At this stage there were no costs, since I had all the tools and did all the work myself. As they say, breaking is not building. I removed the tiles using a hammer drill in a couple of hours. Removing the old wallpaper and linoleum was also not difficult.
There was no need to prepare the floor, since it was visually even, although with differences. That’s why I chose linoleum - when laying it, you don’t need to additionally level the floors, it is less picky about the curvature of the floor, which cannot be said about laminate. This is also saving money.
Subtleties of renovation in the bathroom and toilet
When planning a new renovation of the toilet and bathroom, include the replacement of pipes in the estimate. In old houses they often leak. After replacing communications, you need to hide them in a niche or closet. This will give you extra storage space.
To decorate each of these rooms, it is better to use two types of tiles. Dividing a wall horizontally with two colors makes the room feel larger. Combine tiles with siding - this will reduce the overall cost of repairs. If possible, you can install a shower in a small bathroom, then the room will be more spacious.
General principles and techniques
One-room apartments usually do not have large areas. The dwellings of the old buildings - in Khrushchev - are about 30 square meters. m, but in new buildings it’s a little more: maybe 40 sq.m or more. In any case, you have to carefully think through the layout and arrangement of furniture: every centimeter counts.
Where to start renovating a one-room apartment? You need to draw a plan with dimensions, and to scale. Next you need to look at what can be improved.
Moving the door closer to the load-bearing wall
First of all, pay attention to the location of the doors. In old layouts they were often placed in the middle of the wall. This is very uneconomical from the point of view of using space: too large an area becomes “dead”. We walk around in it, and there is no way to install anything. It is much more convenient if the doors are moved closer to one of the walls. Which one is up to you to choose. Moreover, this is a restructuring, not a redevelopment, but it must be registered.
Combining a bathroom
The biggest problem with small-sized housing is very small bathrooms. In old houses they are simply tiny. They don't even have the ability to install a washing machine. Since the rest of the rooms are not very spacious, we have to make some adjustments to find space. Therefore, when undertaking a renovation of a one-room apartment, they very often tear down the partition between the bathroom and the toilet. They are definitely not load-bearing, so there are no problems with coordination. This solution alone can provide the necessary centimeters.
Repair plan for a one-room apartment
The second thing that is often done is to replace the bathroom with a shower. This solution is not acceptable for everyone, but there is a little more space. You can install a ready-made shower cabin or make it yourself from bricks, tiles, by making a half-brick wall or installing a folding door. Read how to assemble a shower cabin yourself here.
Removing partitions between the bathroom and toilet is one of the repair options
Demolition of storage rooms
Most floor plans have closets. But their location is often so unfortunate that it is better without them. But the vacated space can be used for equipment or a dressing room or built-in closet can be made in this place. They may take up the same amount of space, but their functionality is much wider.
Demolition of storage rooms is already a standard solution
Combining rooms with a balcony
Since new insulation materials have appeared today, making it possible to achieve a high degree of thermal insulation with a small thickness, it has become possible to combine rooms with balconies or loggias. Not only the walls, but also the ceiling and floor are well insulated. Moreover, it’s a good idea to install underfloor heating: moving batteries is difficult (design, approval), but laying a heating cable is possible and relatively easy. A design for such heating is not required.
Example of renovation of a 1-room apartment with a combined balcony
When combining rooms with a balcony, keep in mind that you can only remove the part that was under the window. It is strictly forbidden to touch those walls from floor to ceiling. Such alterations will never be legalized for you: these are external load-bearing walls and they are responsible for the integrity of the building.
Studio apartment
Another solution popular among young people: the demolition of almost all partitions. Only the bathroom and toilet remain fenced off. All other walls are removed. It turns out to be a so-called studio apartment. From an ordinary one-room apartment with an area of just over 30 meters, with this type of renovation you can make quite a decent room. There are disadvantages to this solution: the kitchen is practically combined with the rest of the rooms and the smells of food will spread throughout the apartment. Therefore, it must have a powerful hood. This solves the problem.
Transform a one-room apartment into a studio apartment
This option can be modified - make the walls beveled, etc. Just remember that expanding the area of bathrooms and kitchens is possible only at the expense of technical premises. Since in this case this happens at the expense of the hallway, there are no problems. But in this area you will have to do enhanced waterproofing: several layers will definitely be required. Be prepared for this to be spelled out in the draft approval.
You will find some ideas for renovating a one-room apartment in the video. A real object, filmed before renovation, then the main stages and “after”.
Inexpensive balcony repair
Do not use the balcony in a small apartment as a storage area for unnecessary things. If you empty it of rubbish and carry out renovation work, you will get a study, a place for games, a bedroom.
There is no need to skimp here. So that you can stay on the balcony in winter, you can insulate it and move the battery here. For finishing you can use wallpaper, plastic panels, laminate or linoleum. Even a cheap renovation will transform an old balcony.

Modern planning ideas or how to increase the area in a one-room apartment
Even a small apartment can be made spacious and comfortable if you remodel it correctly. Designers propose to demolish everything unnecessary in such an apartment and turn it into a single space. Do not forget that such work can only be carried out after agreement with the management company.
You can demolish the wall between the kitchen, room and balcony. Sometimes the wall that separates the hallway from the entire space is removed. But if you tear down the walls, the division into zones must remain. To do this, you can make a bar counter, multi-level lighting or plasterboard partitions with through holes. Such structures can be used as cabinets.

How to make a suspended ceiling for me
The stretch ceiling was made by a master, because it requires special skills and tools. Finding a good and cheap master in Kazan is quite difficult. I try to contact specialists directly, because companies charge more.
I decided to make a glossy stretch ceiling with spotlights. To choose the optimal cost of the work, I invited several craftsmen. Departure and measurements are free. They examined the room and announced prices. The most budget offer: 300 ₽ per square meter (work + materials) and 400 ₽ for each spotlight (with lamp and light bulb), 600 ₽ per meter of curtains.
Functional combination of kitchen and room
The apartment will become more spacious if you tear down the wall between the kitchen and the room. In this place you can put a bar counter with high chairs. This interior solution immediately eliminates the need to purchase a kitchen table.
If it is not possible to install a bar counter, divide the space by combining floor coverings. Let there be tiles in the kitchen, and laminate on the floor in the room. Their junction will be the border between the zones. You can put a table here and hang a thick curtain, which can be easily drawn if necessary.
Where to begin?
So, having decided to independently renovate the apartment on a budget, having assessed their own strengths and means, they begin to work. Here is an algorithm of actions, following which time is spent rationally:
- The desired plan . The position of communications - heating radiators, electrical sockets - depends on it. If you like, the space is divided into zones - recreation, active life.
- Old coatings are removed from all surfaces - floor, walls, ceiling. If the windows and doors will not be replaced, then they are also cleaned for the upcoming finishing. To work, you will need a hammer drill, dissolving liquids, spatulas - depending on the raw materials being dismantled. It is recommended to immediately saturate the walls with antiseptics - mold is common in apartments, and besides, this possibility is no longer expected.
- They place a new concrete screed on the floor - without it it is impossible to create an even floor covering, partitions, or cover the walls with high-quality wallpaper.
- They arrange communications - electrical wiring hidden in the walls, sockets and sockets brought to the surface. They install plastic water and sewer pipes and change the heating system. If provided for in the plan, frames for plasterboard partitions are arranged.
Now the room has taken on the appearance of a rough finish. Solutions vary depending on the previous condition of the apartment. It is important to keep in mind that during the renovation, residents must have the option of an “alternate airfield” for at least a month. Especially when the apartment is small.
Insulation and connection of a balcony or loggia
The process of attaching a loggia or balcony to an apartment is expensive and time-consuming. But these expenses are worth it, because after completing all the work, you will be able to expand the kitchen or room.
The walls and floor on the balcony must be insulated. These works can be quickly completed by specialists. The dividing wall can be completely demolished or converted into a cabinet or bar counter, which at the same time will serve as a table and storage system. If you remove the wall completely, then the balcony and the rest of the room need to be decorated in the same style. The balcony can be turned into a dining area or a refrigerator can be moved here.

Rational combination of the bathroom
The bathroom and toilet can be combined into one interior if the load-bearing wall between them is demolished. If you decide to make such a change, you will have to decorate the new room in the same style. The entire floor should be tiled with the same tiles, the walls near the bathroom and toilet should also be tiled with the same type of tiles.
Combining the bathroom frees up additional space. It can be used to install furniture, a washing machine, laundry baskets and other interior items for which there was no room in the apartment before.

Inexpensive design ideas and color preferences for decorating a one-room apartment
To decorate one-room apartments, it is recommended to use materials of light colors. To prevent the interior from seeming boring, it must have bright spots. This can be furniture and decorative items in contrasting colors. In small rooms you can combine wallpaper in bright and calm shades.
For these rooms it is better not to use wallpaper with large patterns. You can decorate such an interior with photo wallpapers, wall stickers, original textiles or interesting lamps and chandeliers. The popular Provence style is difficult to create in such an interior, but laconic Scandinavian, minimalism and modernism are possible.

- Brown, blue and green colors have a relaxing effect.

- All yellow colors will bring a great mood to your household and strengthen the nervous system. It is better not to use red, as it will quickly tire the property owner and will also constantly irritate.

- You should also avoid pink colors or choose the lightest possible colors - this way you can avoid negative influences.
At the moment, designers advise opting for pastel, neutral shades. Beige, sand, green or cream fantasies are perfect. After you have chosen your favorite paint tone or wallpaper, you should start choosing curtains - this element of the interior should be completely compatible with the walls of the apartment.

Making a budget Scandinavian style in a small apartment
This style is characterized by a light color scheme, diluted with bright colors. The walls and floor act as a background, so they should be white, beige or sand. But to get a real Scandinavian interior, you can paint one of the walls blue or red, put a yellow carpet on the floor, buy a blue sofa and put a few photos in bright frames in the closet.
To create such an interior, it is recommended to use natural materials. You can remove the old varnish from an old wooden shelving unit, cover the wood with white paint, and you will get a piece of furniture in the Scandinavian style.

What does the repair consist of?
The total cost takes into account many components, namely:
- Design project. It’s difficult to give an approximate cost; it all depends on who is doing the development. As a rule, an experienced specialist does not price his services cheaply.
- Redevelopment (moving walls) - this requires permission, which is also not free.
- Leveling ceilings, walls and floor screeding. The price for each type of work is low, but the total volume is decent, so this is also a significant expense item.
- Finishing walls, ceilings and floors. It all depends on the materials used.
- Installation of entrance and interior doors.
- Plumbing, electrical wiring, installation of appliances.
Modest minimalist style
To create an interior in a minimalist style, choose finishing materials in a calm color scheme:
- white;
- blue;
- brown;
- green;
- burgundy
There should not be many flowers - two or three, no more. This style is characterized by a minimal amount of furniture and only decorative items. Much attention is paid to lighting and zoning the space with color. Interiors in the minimalist style are spacious and airy.
Inexpensive decor options in Art Nouveau style
If desired, a one-room apartment can be decorated in Art Nouveau style. To do this, there must be a lot of wood in it: you can put a textured laminate on the floor and buy furniture with wooden armrests. On one of the walls you can paste wallpaper with large floral patterns. Choose an interior door with stained glass and place decorative forged objects in a prominent place. Forged lamps and a carpet with an oriental pattern will also fit into such an interior.
You can easily make a beautiful renovation in a one-room apartment for little money. All construction work will have to be done independently, and it will take a lot of time to find finishing materials at a good price. But it's worth it. If you approach this issue wisely, you will not only be able to refresh your apartment, but also decorate it in a Scandinavian or minimalist style.
